The people who say fat give up when he started losing read like twats to me.
In case you all forgot he won the PK championships and he was a successful quake 4 player. And he owned at the start of q3.
If he was the first to PPP then well done him. Its not as if he's not done anything since.
Ok the guy is annoying at times, but at least he's not a bitch nigger.
Face the facts, if Fat players a game he's always a top contender,
Considering all the top players can beat each other on a god day why don't you just leave it at that.
agreed just correct your post typos, also hes the only one technically speaking to become close to a millionnaire from gaming skills alone. He got his company started off from his name as a gamer brand and merged with existing companies, the only other player who kind of made a fortune from the gaming industry but unlike fatality not from using his gaming skills and building a brand was thresh, who kind of individually used his entrepreneurial skills and sold that gamer chat software.
fat's a top contender until he starts losing then disappears of the map, he tried a Q3 comeback and failed then left it at that
he probably watched the ruskis at WCG 2002 from home and thought 'holy shit I've got no chance' let alone the skill gap increase that was shown in 2003 (eswc and coooooooooooooooooooooooooollllllllerrrrrrrrrrrrrrr)
good for marketing himself but anyone that has followed the 'hardcore' scene can see straight through it
doom 3, avp and ut were total bullshit
Q4/PK can be argued both ways, he still dropped Q4 though didn't he? could be wrong there
he's good but he's like oscar de la hoya, amazing at bullshitting and marketing and when you look into what he has actually done and VS who you see a whole load of steaming shit
bare in mind that you need to be passionate to have the drive to play enough and be the best, maybe he decided he lost that passion. You can harderly call him for playing doom 3, AVP and UT because he got something out of it, doom 3 he got an easy 10/20k as the field was weak, AVP he won a stenciled car/truck and ut made a 10k or so dollars so harderly time wasted.
and the passion was there, that's the way he gets good, just play an absolute shed load from day one non stop but that only works so well because once that skill level becomes a standard for everyone you have to think new stuff up and push the boundary :p
He played PK with only Vo0 to get in his way. Vo0 is hardly a top tier player.
He played Doom 3 with Daler as his only competition. Rocketboy shows up and he quits.
Gets into Quake 4 and loses to Toxic. Don't give me that bullshit about cooller/etc - av3k and toxic were the only ones really taking the game seriously.
He claims that he was waiting for a game that truly tests his skill, and he commonly refers to Q3 as that very game - yet when Zero4 calls him out to show up at ESWC, he ducks out like a little bitch. Funny that, since z4 got knocked out and fat would have as well. They probably wouldn't have even gotten to play each other!
He plays shootouts against HORRIBLE players. I actually wonder about some of them, as they're impressively bad. I think it was 2-3 years ago when he had a shootout at Quakecon and a guy comes up - big black guy, if any of you remember - and they ask him what clan he's in... he pauses as if to try to think about it, and comes up with "TEAM LEET". I'm not entirely sure he's ever used a mouse before. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the people he goes up against were paid to be there to lose.
On the flip side, he's lost to both Daler and rocketboy in doom 3 shootouts. Daler even beat him in a hilarious showing on dm6 in Q3. (a + to anyone who can link to that demo)
I am not sure I remember enough of this to make a solid post, but your bias against fatality is a bit much. Claiming Vo0 to be a less than a top tier competitor is just ignorant. Fatal1ty also dominated the q3 scene for a certain period of time ( When the prize money was by far the biggest ), so moving on to other more exciting and lucrative games seems like a good idea. It is right that he started losing more than he was used to so it might have been the reason he thought that moving on to other games was better for him. Not being able to dominate a certain gaming scene forever is kind of pathetic though I agree. (Btw his shoot-outs are not on a competitive level and more of a novelty act )
