Making such a statement on Stermy being a rail whore has no purpose. Doesn't mean it shouldn't be said, just has no purpose. It has as much purpose as you "thinking it" to yourself. The point of you writing such a thing for everyone to read is to claim a side, or that you have identification with this 'side' of things, or this view. If I told you that you were wrong, you might find the need to repel back in argument, defending this identification. And that is because at a root, you feel it is a part of you. So, it isn't that you are wanting to spread your own personal suffering, it is you trying to deep down claim your identification as being alive and real. It is unconscious so it isn't really personal or related to anything, it is based on bias and past experience and views only. It has no truth to it, and nothing of the sort can as well.

That is why the world is all based on separation and all that comes with it. Instead of course, things are seen how they really are, which is not in separation or all that is related to it: capitalism, nationalism, race, religion, etc etc. This is the cause of all suffering, physical and mental. you should really see some qlive demos- combine almost perfect weapon choice with great aiming and movement and u have a winner

Back in old days, the most beautiful demos I ever seen were lakerman demos. He usually did not do any fancy movements, but on the basics any1 knew about, he was better. Theoretically speaking, everybody knows proper weapon choice, yet u see a lot of mistakes of weapon choice even at higher leveles, not happening once in a century, but a lot. Stermy is right now very good in this basic cvasiknowned issue, weapon choice (fooki is going great too on the issue, yet because his temper his aim is a bit lower -but he compensate iwith strategy -way too offtopic)
After seeying hundreds or thousands of demos, like many around here, I am not that easy to impress anymore (talking from spectator point of view, of course). Yet I find qlive stermy demos pretty entertaining. The very basics are done very well, better than most elite players. A must see.

-when I post in a hurry I'm more messy than usual, this is not my first language so I don't care too much abt :), the most important thing is what u wanna say, not how you say it, unless you are involved in some literature activity (women beg to differ here, though)
-if I don't post for a few days in english I go out of practice already, on the other hand if I'd live in USA for let's say six months I'd speak english close to perfection, because I have the good and bad capacity I learn 10x faster than usual people and I also forget 10x faster without repetition
-my natural language is pretty different, and bad english is the direct result of me skilled on the other one -practically I fucked up really good some writers/poets on their blogs, I'm good at it, lol

seriously though, there is a difference between simply showing off on the on side. And doing something helpful for others or good for your own career, while risking that others notice.

- You shouldn't brag with test results to random people, but you shouldn't have to try to hide them either. And you should show them in the proper places, e.g. professional web profile.
- You shouldn't go tell everyone who didn't ask what your job is and how much you make, but you shouldn't put all your money in a bank becauses neighbors might be jealous either.
- You shouldn't make a press release saying how great you are when giving donations, but you should give if you can.
- As in this case, you should make a huge news that you have the bestest tutorials (if you wann call em that) because you own everyone. But you should make them if you want to and make people aware of them, or else they are pointless.

Sure those tutorials, also serve the purpose to promote Stermy and make him more attractive to sponsors. But I have to ask, who suffers from this, except maybe other pros looking for sponsors who don't put up tutorials and demos?

The criticism is coming from two different perspectives. These are the content itself and the reason for doing it.

Personally, I'm okay with being critical of content. But I would rather not speculate as to why an individual was motivated to write commentary about weapons in a Quake game, not to mention having a dedicated website with configs, demos etc.


Stermy has his own website and is sharing material. I'll watch his demos; I'll even peak at his config. Me, I like it. I get to check out a good player in action, maybe get a few config ideas and read about his perspectives (in this case biases) for certain weapons. I'm down for that.

Some view this as a self congratulatory move on his part, but maybe he actually wanted to say a few things about Quake Live. Maybe he's excited, and this is his way of sharing? Who's to say, and who's to know?

In the end I find criticism of content to be a much smarter road, than to start questioning character and the alleged motives of an individual you don't know.
