ye, great performance guys, although that wasn't Russia's best lineup.
It's been some years since we've seen a decent Icelandic team (glitch, reynir, butch,...). I bet you guys can beat UK as well and take 1st place in the group!

Hehe hopefully ! It seems like our team is quite strong at the moment, even though they have only played one practice match that I know of. But you never know, Iceland always has a hard time in games where players are from uk/nl/fr, not necessarily because the players there are more threatening but just because it is kind of hard to play on 70 vs 10-25 ping :)

But I think this was close to being Russia´s best lineup though, they had to drop Jibo I believe since he wont be able to participate in the ESL NC. Then evil showed up on the dm7 game so I guess they just decided against using him. Not really sure what other players Russia can field to be honest, I see shad2y on their roster to, guess he could have played though.

also in some cases it makes little sense as some nations have lots of good tdm players while others do not even have 4. how can you even argue against this? :)

I didn't say I don't like clans, it's just that with the current state I'm glad there is a decent ql cup going on. And I'm sure countries will be willing to practice even more, as ESL will also start a nations cup.

I like both clans & nations btw. The idea of nations playing each other is just very appealing to me. Usually the level in teams/clans is indeed higher, but that doesn't mean nation cup games can't be good; in every group there are at least 3 countries who can field a very decent team.

i generally agree with what you wrote i still think it's sad and dumb ql tdm turned out this way.
it's also a huge letdown for all esports fanatics as with things going like they do right now sponsoring is next to impossible. we were much closer to getting money back in tdm (if that's what you want) with the abomination that was q4.

for me personally as not only a spec but a player the rise of nationcups as the way to play tdm means i lost my last interest as in tdm... 2on2 doesn't exist, public games are dumb as hell and nc's are similar. time to start playing duels, i guess.

theres been quite a few clan tdm cups? kuh3 just started running last sunday, its just a failure from the managers to get proper coverage... like EMS last week, LLL vs FNATIC and only stream we get is 10 mins of 3rd map, wtf :e

For some reason, the TDM community only cares about Nations these days. It's funny as a bet a whole load of these players don't even consider themselves as particularly patriotic and constantly bash the "USA! USA!" crowd.

They don't care at all about standard leagues and cups, forming random buddy mix teams (the "pro's" are notorious for this, hammer everyone then disappear again) and never creating stable squads or developing any sort of team spirit/rivalry etc.

It doesn't help when the community is already small, there's little new blood coming in. Who wants to play in a community like that?

But then you introduce the nation element and they're all over it like zombies.

I think part of the problem is that in clan play, you'll get a team like miel with linkin/noctis/zyv/spartie which would crush pretty much everyone.

thats spot on why tdm is so boring to follow atm. feels like the teams that win are good individual players mixed to together so they can win this or that with their aim and game-knowledge but they usually dont train. so there is no special teamplay and no team/clan character to these matches.

...because everyone admits defeat without even trying. having four great players doesn't mean you have guarenteed wins against everyone else.
tdm clans should start practicing how to win against teams with superior 'fighting skills'. it's tdm afterall there has to be a way.

imo this train of thought started some time after ic/eye/sk/u quit and most people only remembered them because of their aim not teamplay. now this part of the game is forgotten as experience tells day after day that you can win against most people with just focusing on aim.

There just isn't a lot of incentive to play tdm at the moment. It's only when lan based tdm tournaments start to appear (with or without prizemoney, doesn't really matter at this point) that we will see people starting to take tdm more seriously.
