Yes, it does that whilst giving you the option to click and view the text of the ignored post. People have been requesting it.

no, this does not break the thread structure and adds the option to unhide posts by an ignored user. that would be much preferred :)

can you PLEASE see if this can be integrated into ESR so that it publicly shows everyone who you've ignored! Something like a list right next to a users name, or when you hover over their icon, or some kind of drop down/reveal.

Maybe if the trolls knew they were being ignored they would just shut up to begin with...

My original feeling was that providing information about who was ignored would only be like a badge of honour. I'm not 100% sure if it would be a good idea or not but I suppose we could try it.

Yes, please try it at least. Trolls still take up space to begin with, even if you don't read what they're saying or try to hide it. I'm sick and tired of coming into an over bloated thread tree because some troll is still leaving constant bait. I can't help but think if they knew they were being ignored to begin with then they might not even bother. I mean they're going to be put on an "ignore list" anyways so I don't see how it might further mince their feelings.

The ignore function change is active now by default if you want to try it.

While I like the idea of having to click a button to show the posts of ignored users (like in every forum), it could be implemented in a bit better way.
Now it hides both threads initiated by them (shown in the main site and forums) and replies to their posts, so you'll end searching and doing at least 5 clicks in every thread just to read the posts from other users that were made in the same "tree", and it'll show the post from the ignored user anyway.

I tried ignoring raythenoob, because he posts the exact same thing over and over.
Before this change I couldn't read about 50% posts, since it was impossible to read his threads and what people wrote in response to his posts.
Now I can read ESR but it's tedious.

the idea is that it should only hide what the ignored user wrote, whether when creating a new thread or just posting.


or I could keep skipping what he writes, like everyone here.
