Sick tricks, editing, really cool weapon effects too :D. I don't like that type of music but it melted together with the movie so nicely that I didn't get bothered by it at all somehow.

9/10 would have been easy 10 if the music was better.

came back to this a few years later to say that i changed my mind about the first and third songs - they were amazing. however, i still think the second song was a little out of place.

a bit like the inverse of contenders 2 - in that, the intergalactic rock song was incredible, but the other songs were okay at best imo :/

Do not quite agree on the "best quake movie yet" part..

I think this movie is so liked by everyone because there were no as good movies as this one lately.
BUT if this would have come out a few years back, when Tricking iT2, Morning never came, other movies by negoxe, other movies by mrks were released - it would, of course, still be good, but would not be rated as 'best movie yet'...

I think quake 3 moviemaking scene is very weak nowadays and a good movie comes out like once in 6 months (if not more), when earlier a good movie would come out at least once a month and there were tons of good movies and moviemakers. Sad, but moviemaking scene is dead, compared to what it used to be with all those moviemaking gurus active a few years back.

Keep it up rEnk! Really liked some of the visual solutions used here. Very creative! Definitely worth to watch!

wow! fantastic movie. nice to see some of detinus moviedemos finally used in a movie. there are still a lot of good tricks by him though :)

Great movie! Especially the audio and video editing was levels above what you normally see. The music suited the content nicely as well.

The only bad thing i can point to would be the fact that some tricks were scripted, but those doesnt nessesarily make the movie any less entertaining to watch. It merely would be even more amazing if they werent, but still this gets a top score in my book :)

Huge [-] for a lot of obviously scripted tricks (and yes, I read disclaimer). But still, I very enjoyed this movie.

strangely felt disconnected from the tricks. possibly because freestyle tricking is becoming quite boring to me. i think its hard to appreciate if you're not actively doing it and if the tricks are not super duper awesome omg howd he do that quality.

Don't understand how this movie can be liked that much.

Sure, the editing is good, the weapons effects look nice but it feels like I've seen all those 3 rockets jumps on those very same maps a thousand times already it just gets boring after a while.

Couldn't even watch it till the end, the content is just meh.

I was personally sold with the editing and overall atmosphere. It made me uber-excited. I've seen it 10 min ago and just wanna go home and play.

I had the same feeling. I've never played defrag, but I feel like I know those 3-4 maps and their tricks. That's why I prefer runs and teamtricks. maps and tricks are kinda new there. Anyway the editing is superb.

I liked the 3rd person cameras and the ghost line behind enemy model is perfect for defrag... this shit delivers... good quality man! 1080@60fps pure sickness!

One question is rocket projectil model the same as the one we saw in Strenx 3D movie trailer. Cuz if it id, i did unjustice to strenx trailer, cuz this model looks badas, especialy with that rocket flame ans smoke.

The content might not be the greatest, but I've never seen editing as good as the one in this movie.

The editing is a bit overkill. Nice fx scripts, though what happened with the nade? Just plain black smoke and nothing nade model?

Great movie, loved the FX.

I can't get the 1080p 60 fps version to run smoothly. I had the problem before with other movies.
Is a good graphic card needed to run these high quality videos?
I have a quad core and 8 gb ram, so that's definately not the problem. Video card is old and crappy though (Geforce 9600 GT).

Even an only dx7 capable veteran card would be much more than enough to display 1080p 2D video. I'm pretty sure it's not 9600GT.

[-] Music, Pendulum and Qemists.. cmon, not fourteen anymore.
[-] Not so funny intro with generic ragefaces
[0] Effects looked nice overall, though it was on the edge of overediting imho
[0] Most tricks looked great although the most astonishing are probably scripted so dunno

Enjoyed recent movies like dorftrottel by kos way more, ofc frag- and defragmovies might not be comparable.

My opinion is the same as on the other forum;

+: nice editing, timescale, really shows the effort
+: the music bends quite well with the action (it's not my type though)
+: for being hungarian :)

-: rocket and explosion effects are just a big no for me
-: I forget to mention there, that I'm missing the ingame sounds too - this helps to create a more intense experience while watching

Anyways, a good movie but as some mentioned above, not the best. I'm still a Shaolin Productions fan - I know how hard is to make something noticeable, knowing what kind of masterpieces laying around on the internet. But regarding the comments here, I guess you came out this with a positive feedback overall, and that's what matters (besides the personal satisfaction).
Maybe I'll ask you about some camera tricks and such; I was planning on making a movie sometime, but I'm really noob regarding camera placement and usage.

What is timescaling?

/timescale <1 will make q3 run slower - making the tricks a lot lot easier, hence considered a 'hack' by purists.

Yeah cheers, i thought i was something like that, and so gave it low score. If you can't do the tricks then you got to try harder, not cheat..!

It's rare that any movie deserves a 10, and this one is no exception. EH4 certainly didn't deserve a 10 and that's our movie, so I'm not being biased. However, I loved the hard work put into the q3mme fx. The camwork was too erratic at times and the scripting/timescaling affected my vote. I appreciate the fact that you mentioned the scripting/timescaling firsthand, though. The music was better than I expected. All in all, I gave this movie a solid 7.

Some of the tricks in this movie are a little stale in my opinion. Some, of course, are fantastic.. but a lot of them I feel like I've seen before (I believe someone made a similar comment earlier). Although I did rate very highly because I felt like the editing created a completely unique atmosphere. Enjoyed the variance in music and all the colours that had me glued to the screen - it was just bordering the line between editing perfection and over-editing.

Only thing that could have made it better, in my opinion, is some original team tricks.

Always good to see a new quake movie, especially defrag. The movie really should have had a little indicator for the scripted and timescaled tricks imo. I'm not saying ts and scripted tricks don't deserve to be there - but using timescale or scripts is just such a massive advantage over legit effort put in by others, it's all too common these days for people to take the easy route in everything they do.

- I don't like freestyle
- didn't feel special at all. Guess I got used to kos movies.

Thank you for making this beautiful movie. I must confess that many of my tricks (not all of them) used short scripts to set up timing. My reason for this was that my imagination could not be contained within the game's normal bounds. That is not to say that I did not spend countless hours on each trick, because I did. My goal was to realize my technical and overall creativity, while still keeping a unique, smooth style. If people knew me on OPC they know that I have hundreds of demos and I believe each of them has something special and unique that I worked very hard toward. However, cowardice got the best of me, and I did not openly disclose which tricks used these scripts and which did not, so please forgive me for that. I hope that my tricks can still bring people joy, regardless, and that people can see the larger picture of how freestyle is about creativity and not about competition.

On another note, although my demos for this movie were likely hand selected from a batch, many more complex and time consuming demos are still floating around yet to be used. I hope that someone can find a use for them, as trickjumping was once a large and important component of my life.

I had the feeling you sometimes used scripts for timing/setups. I believe you actually mentioned using scripts for timing when you posted your movie finisher "huzzah" on OPC. The overall quality of your tricks was just so incredibly high, it made me feel better about my own tricks knowing you're not a robot :<. Nevertheless you still are my favourite freestyler and after all I am a fan of Buddha, ElvisUptown, Khetti and Camping_Gaz etc., so I don't mind scripting and timescaling if it is disclosed. I really hope your remaining demos will be used for a awesome tricking movie (especially "upwardmotion", "ubiquitous", "maphivefinishervariation" and "huzzah" :D).
