I don't care if he's doing it for the money as long as people participate and make this a great event.

On the other hand, it's an open tournament, everyone can join.
If cooller joined, he would be proclaimed the saviour of quake, if strenx does it, he's a money whore.

My suggestion is to enjoy it while it lasts and don't glorify those who don't deserve it. The difference with Cooller would be probably that he doesn't deny playing for the money.

I think there are other factors with strenx that make him generally unpopular, not really the money grabbing.

You have a point though.

Life isn't black and white. You can love smth you do and need money in the same time. I think strenx spend the most time out of pros commentating and teaching other duelers - many players including me really appreciate it. Also he intends to host his own tournament - we will see. It's less than many community members but it's much more than 95% of the playerbase at the same time. He deserves some credit for this.
I really don't see anyone over glorifying strenx. The fact that ppl are excited to see him playing again is nothing bad - he is excellent player after all.

Not that I'm a big fan of strenx (especially that comment against twister puts him into a bad light) but he has done more for the quake com than most of the other top players. And yes playing vs average people or just pub ca is a lot because there are actually people who enjoy playing with/against him.
Rather have a pro like him than someone who plays only shortly before big tournaments. It's an incentive for guys like poni to beat him and get better. Then there are guys who are able to beat poni those are then players I'd like to beat on a good day sometimes and etc.
