afaik Latrommi does (cg_hitbeep 0), but in ql. Plus there is also cg_crosshairhitstyle ON that helps a lot (like spam and so on)

personally i experienced an exponential improvement in my lg/tracking by disabling the hitsound on it. the distraction is definitely there otherwise and it feels like i have to make adjustments every nanosecond only to find myself ending up with an undesirably disappointing outcome. nosound just feels like you're given some extra room for mistakes giving yourself that little extra confidence boost and freedom in your mouse movement. dunno, just the way the brain works for some people i guess

I remember ages back reading something along those lines in an interview with Sander, yeah. I didn't take much notice then, and am kicking myself for not having done so now.

I dunno, turning it off just feels... liberating? I'm not sure if that's the right word, but those micro-adjustments you mention after waiting for the beep is exactly what was bugging me before. Really split my attention, particularly on rail. Now I find myself concentrating more on the crosshair, rather than splitting my mental space between waiting on the beep and lining up the next shot.

And the clarity on the damage sounds now... I can clearly here Sarge's sub25 at rg on cpm3a say, from stairs ya/rg ammo. Before the beep just muffled it.

Yeah, I've always preferred him because his sub25 is so distinct.

yeah i guess it's just naturally more efficient narrowing it down to just locking your eyes on the target and clicking without having to worry about the accompanying sound.

anyway i do not really recommend turning it off for projectiles or rail as there's really no tradeoff other than the subsequent momentum u might get from hitting better with the lg

No hitsounds on LG is great.
Makes you focus more on hitting green robots and no beeps when you actually point at green robot isn't fun.

I have been using no hit beep for LG and MG for a long time now and I must say it helped my tracking aim alot. I noticed I relied on sound partly to determine aim lock success and especially due to my high ping this was throwing me off. With no hitbeep I rely on just visuals (sparks) and in turn I keep my aim more steady, resulting in higher nets

Are sparks actually 'predicted'?
Because I would assume not... in which case it's strange that the pure graphical asynchronisity matters less than the audio-visual combo does.

But hey I said years ago that if ID wanted to keep this (imo retarded) netcode that they should predict hitsounds.

it doesnt really matter if it is client side or serverside sparks either, its important what my brain "learned" when I started using no hit beep. The sparks is sufficient of a filter for me, in theory i could learn to use the lg even without them but i think this is needless effort.
