indeed, single seater racing cars are smaller (and so increadibly lower) than one'd think. that'd just be a rolling chassis with changed parts, but it's still great to see stuff like that :-)
heya netrex, that is definitely a full scale renault f1 car (2003?) and definitely, absolutely not an indy car :-)
the car pictured will be a duplicate of an f1 car with most of the exotic materials and engine missing... i'm betting the model there is mostly made up of plastics (maybe apart from the main chassis itself).
as i said in comment #3, all single seater racing cars are a lot smaller than they look on the tv or from a distance. you have to stand next to one to feel the amazing prescence they give off - and then you realise they're a hell of a lot smaller (and wider) than you first thought. :-)
Yea, F1s are ugly and weak. they use a weak 900HP ~3L V10, with the worlds best chassis and equipment. All that under 800kg (how much is the minimum weight now?).
Now bring your elephant (that stuff you've shown in your post) onto a circuit with even the worst F1 and we'll talk again about "weakness" and stuff. ;)
tbh i like to watch GTs racing better because they look like real cars, unlike F1s that are not cars to me, merely sharing the fact that they got 4 wheels and an engine :D
