he did, but he didnt actually have a cfg with him, we just helped him setup all the stuff he could remember and played (apparently he liked how it looked)

No it's not.
Upload it on esr or your ftp, have several usb sticks, or even get everyone in your team to have each other's cfgs just in case one goes missing.

If I had with the intention of playing quake I would have uploaded my cfg on my ftp and carried around quite a few usb sticks ( and would have probably copied it on my mp3 player too tbh )
