ive been playing on 100hz 111fps but switched to lower res and now the hz can go to 160. 125fps 125mp and 120hz or 160hz?
when switching between 120/160 i can feel its a different mouse feel, but cant really decide whats better(just like with xerp)... what does the science behind it say? i know there were threads about this but i couldnt find them...
cruzing around feels smoother on 160 ofcorse, but i wanna know whats with mouse delay because i can feel its different. and if its better to have synced fps mp and hz
that's fps not hz, unless you'e using vync those are two entirely different things - but yeah, the engine rounds up and down to specific values (of fps and maxpackets).
edit: ahh now i understand what you mean :)
that is an interesting idea but i don't think it works like that. the values are 40 / 63 / 100 and 125, so you could sync hz and fps at 100.
My monitor (a semi-decent LCD by Samsung) has 60hz max. I typically have always played 125fps. Should I play 60hz/63fps/63mp? Or should I play 60hz/63fps/125mp? or 60hz/125fps/125mp?
Ix said below that you should try to minimize all sources of lag.
My LCD had a max of 60hz on its highest resolution, but FPS has been a problem lately for some reason, so I checked the other possible resolutions and at 1280x940 (iirc) I could get 75hz, so I changed to that and it has been much better. I actually had to turn on swapinterval for vsync because otherwise it was still fluctuating fps.
Oh yeah had to change my aspect ratio as well.
Since I changed to 75hz its been much better, but I can't get 125fps at all- I could get it at 60hz but it was so choppy I couldn't keep up.
I can tell you that you will certainly have better accuracies with a higher refresh. Never played on 160hz, but when I used to have a CRT, playing at 120hz was the ONLY way to play. It's difficult to adjust to 60hz from playing at 120hz for years.
Agree ,took me awhile to adjust from 125fps/160hz to 125fps/75 hz but now its fine....ofc its not as good but i can live with it untill i can afford a 120hz lcd :)
But in some cases is better to get a 120hz lcd, you lose 40hz, but you gain loads of space and girls wouldn't think you are a massive nerd by still using a "fat monitor" when they come into your room.
You lose a lot more than 40 Hz, LCDs still suffer a lot of lag and blur compared to CRT displays. Get 2 monitors and hide the CRT or go back to the girl's place instead. Win-win. Anyway the gaming mouse and mousepad are still dead give aways of massive nerdery.
