Could it be set up, so when you're watching a demo, you have the option of watching it through the player's config? Like, when the demo is recorded, it also logs the player's config?

The config structure of quake is one of many reasons why its failed as a mainstream game IMO.
REal advantages can be had from tweaking TXT files which would be boderline cheating in most games. Especially some of the Visibility stuff, then everyone whines its too aim based.
They would not make half the shots they do without that cfg.
