Same shit with uploading and deleting new/old cfg from the profile - I always had to ask admin to do it, because whatever I tried to do, nothing happened/changed in the end.

Funny thing is that no one from admins couldn't help either because they didn't know who can help in that matter - first admin said "ask xou", then xou "ask xxx" then the xxx guy "ask demiurge" ROTFL. FIX THIS FUCKING SITE.

Isn't the crucial difference that ESR actually hosts these pictures? I'd assume that this is different from linking them via [img]...[/img] and putting up a disclaimer.

Probably, but then again most pics do get approved and hosted anyways.

Its not ideal, but you can at least provide a link until your image is approved so people can see it striaght away and even delete it the day after when [IMGx] is approved.

the problem is you and many other 'regular' users who submit pictures that don't get approved. the way a user becomes 'trusted' is if that doesn't happen. i don't think we want to ban all 'regular' users, so I guess you have to suffer for many minutes (i rarely see an image unapproved for more than an hour) until the images get approved. on the other hand, since all of you can link to images, perhaps image approval can be entirely disabled. can you post <img > tags as a regular?

I probably* wouldn't even bother with this thread if the wait was a matter of minutes. And yeah, as you noted, anyone can post a link to an image, so it kind of makes the approval system bit of a hindrance to both user and admin alike.

*Although i've been meaning to ask about the reasons behind such strict image policy around this place anyway.

ok, that makes sense if you can't post <img>. the point of this is to prevent image spam, like 1000 goatse images that flooded the site before this was implemented.

it's not more work, its AFTER the site has been spammed. it doesn't PREVENT it.

Hm. I assume this was done from dummy accounts, so maybe just allow direct image posting for accounts older than, say, 3-6 months or so?

we have had multiple user admin accounts taken over actually due to bad passwords. but i agree with the spirit of your suggestion such that it should be easier to gain trusted user status.

I was thinking more of a trusted user who doesn't have as much authority, just the ability to share images without the approval of admins. If one abuses said power to post goatsee image 100 times, there's always a banhammer nearby to deal with such users.

madbringer has a point, sometimes it takes up to 12 hours for an image to be approved, since admins can't stare at the screen and wait for image approvals. It's not something that anyone would be butthurt about, just a suggestion.

anything above what regular use can do is an ability to reck the site. if you are to be trusted with one way, you might as well be trusted with everything else, so there is no point in having something in between. the past about 'use html' is very similar to 'post any images'.

I just post the links to the image. It's far better and less clutter for the forum. On many forums I disable the image/avatar/signature anyway so it loads up much quicker. There are not many topics like this on Esreality but take a look at where people show their desks which is full of images. Damn, I can't seem to find it....

esr in many aspects is somewhat ridicilous, took me some time to realize actually how utterly bad the site is D:
