If it was released nowadays I'd actually think it's just a bunch of hipsters being proto-post-sarcarstical-something-adjective and having a laugh. Unfortunately, it's not.

As far as I remember it was more than that: if you aren't top16 then you are wasting your time. The majority of the top16 of the time was composed of old quakers, that still play.

That part prolly got muffled by the HEJ A NIGGUH bit.
But yeah, it was mostly people who played q3 at a high level and who instantly switched to q4 wether they liked it or not because there was money to be won and the game wasn't too different. It's not like you couldn't see that coming.

Most of that segment was between two strippers in elf costumes and segment about someone urinating on his laptop...

Why didnt' 2gdstudio announce on ESR they would make some quakelive action happen ? Even if that's just a 'beat the studio' show, I'm pretty sure they'd have grabbed up a few more hundred viewers if not more :(

Yeah it was really fun to watch. Even when semmler played who isnt the most experienced quake player, it was still really fun. He tryed hes best and 2GD made some funny commentating! More Quake in the GDstudio!

as good as it is watching 2GD streaming some QL but that madness with no pro account and spawning servers.

Was a surprisingly close game and 2gd could have definitely won. Definitely still has it to produce awesome skill. With enough practice, could definitely break top 10 again.

No way, fox was playing with him and the map was actually a good one for 2GD.
Breaking the top10 means being consistently better then: Cypher, Cooller, Raffer, K1llsen, DaHang, Evil, Pavel, Av3k, Dem0n and Guard.. Are you serious?

And i left out great great players like Baksteen, Strenx (even in his nowadays shape, granted he would be top10 if he hadn't to play SM), Spart1e (another top10 lock with some time to play and a connection), Fraze, Agent, Noctis and so on.

I have a hard time seeing him getting out of the heavy aimers just below top tier players. It's a very fight heavy meta-game right now because of guys like Matr0x, P0ni, Twister, Fazz, 7, Luppi/silencep, guismo, reaper, Rehepapp, Gienek, Ash, even the americans like DKT, Chance, Zero4 if he has been active that week. It's a neverending list and i forgot some guys for sure: The likes of some very good ones like Kronic (not a heavy aimer but a very solid player) or Etty.

Looking at the players who play every now and then there are so many who are on another tier, CZM if he's gonna play now he's in EU again, Tox always owns when he decide to play, Vo0 when he was around, fox himself, stermy..

It wouldn't happen.

The tasks you listed are pretty hard for "random" player, but 2GD has done much harder task of being top10 when Quake was more popular and there was a lot more competition and skill level was much higher, so he can for sure do it again in semi-inactive Quake where there are mostly noobs left who cannot even beat old pensioners like cooller.

he was a top10 guy in Q4, not Q3 IIRC.. I'm no expert anyway, just my POV based on old pros always getting better in some ways and new gamestyle

when was 2gd top10 in duel, and what game you referring to?

in the beginnings of q4 he beat the other uk duelers a few times, but he had quite the headstart in terms of quake experience if you realize he's been around since the time sujoy/timber/blokey/etc. played :)

as 'dc.jay' he was a very good q3tdm player (one among many though), but i have a hard time remembering him being a top dueller.

q4, he was actually consistantly reaching top8 for more than a year. Same tournaments the "usual" rapists would go to.

he reached top10 in the year after quake4's release, but that had a lot to do with who was considered a "progamer" back then (due to painkiller and sponsorship) and the level of competition.

same thing would be calling clamp-ok/deus/garpy/destrukt top10 material because they won some money in the same year, i wouldn't do that either :)

fatality, stermy, ztrider are the only notable pk players who switched to q4. I remember watching a few good games vs stermy a while ago on yt, no idea about fatalol and ztrider ( from what I understand ztrider couldn't be bothered anymore with quake by then and would show up without giving a fuck ) as you can barely find anything and god forbid I install 3 different versions of q4 to watch demos.
He was a solid top10 player back then and could be a solid player nowadays too. The level is higher but somehow we give less fucks about the people in top 32/64 -yeah they're alright, whatever- style than ever.

No I'm not implying we should give a fuck about demon.

he's rusty after all the SM he played and saw him having a hard time against lots of players when streamed and lost to lots of the guys i put in the top10 in online cups! He has not played QL basically in months, but mby you are right. Anyway he's for sure a top5 guy if active.

Not only did he place consistantly top 10 in q4, he also played wow at a highly competitve levels amongst other games and gametypes. People consider twister top 10 and absolutely no disrespect to him but he isn't good enough or experienced enough to be truely in the top 10 or even 20.

I didn't put him in the top10\20. Don't like his playstyle. Anyway wow isn't exactly an FPS :p
