hey! i know what'll be a great idea. lets play a game, in which you can turn texture details completely down - basically, resembling walking along a rubix cube, and lets add characters that you can turn vibrant green colour. You'll never miss him around that one-tone wall. Use a £80.00 pound(+) mouse, with a mousepad the size of a coffee table - decreasing the sensitivity to correlate with the size of the mousepad.
At, the barrier between: almost-non-existent emotion and borderline play-repeat-play -- repeat. Lets think of the last final configuration setting, to remove the quite potentially; last bit of human expression of emotion (since, chat is usually the same in a life time of quake) and REMOVE IT.
I'd understand if it was like voice chat (cod, cs, bf, coop games, etc) and that you couldn't turn it off (omg D:) but... if you hear too much "use item" sound to the point you get annoyed it means you play too much, or you play too much of...
I admit, I love spamming the thing. But I don't do it carelessly. I usually use it as a way to try to communicate to teammates when I don't have a bind or don't have time to talk, such as trying to tell a teammate to go ahead and grab a nearby item.
Even if it could be removed, I think it's a fun mechanic to have and it's usefulness would become zero if everyone started disabling it.
u know how u sometimes as a kid u would like get up in someones personal space and say "not touching"? it sorta feels like you're arguing the same gray area, no?????
Useitem is actually a functional sound - attempt to use an item. Chat is non-functional. Not sure how it could be easier to understand. Next thing you know, someone will want to suppress the opponent jump sound because they don't yet know how to strafe jump.
LOL. There is no argument against allowing people to disable this imo. Its something that should be a choice in an ideal world. The devs are just lazy and this change is not important.
it's emergent gameplay at its finest. those moments where you and a total stranger conduct an alternating break-beat rhythm using only the button bind and a few choice whirls of the gauntlet.
Isn't "Yes I can" right and this one false actually? Unless "you" is like an own name of someone, but it shall be started with a capital letter then, no?

Hey it's ok guys. SyncError loves spamming the thing (BUT NOT CARELESSLY OFC LOL) so there is no need for it to be an optional sound.
Holy fucking shit this is retarded. There is almost zero use for this apart from being annoying and/or feeding your own OCD.
I can understand the "heads up"-thing for TDM which would be the only reason to not just remove it completely from the game.
It's like the best example ever of a feature that you should be able to turn off. Good for some specific situations but otherwise just some annoying cosmetic crap.
Player shadows comes to mind...
Same thing goes for taunts btw. Except there is no situation where it's useful.
I strongly agree with hauer, but it's just another distraction to try to phase out while focusing. I admit, use item and teabagging always annoys me and it's a genuine sign of immaturity. "lol it's just a game, #yolo swag, u mad?" The click click spam bs usually comes after they get what (in their opinion) is a movie caliber frag and they seem to think it's the absolute best thing ever. *Gaunt* CLICK CLICK CLICK. *Rocket to rail combo* CLICK CLICK CLICK, *one single air rocket* CLICK CLICK CLICK, etc. Get over yourself.
when you stop calling ppl all sorts of racial slurs, names and generally acting appropriately yourself, you'll get a private client update with +botton2 sound disabled, deal?
too bad you added "people like you". whining about feature in game 14y VS calling someone inappropriate things not comparable to common trashtalk makes you a faggot.. no wait.
