i might be investing in either a 3700x or a 3800x since my i9 shit the bed sadly. but a 3900x or 3950x seems a bit too overkill imo.

3950x is overkill for games, even if you are streaming in `1080p with 60FPS

3950x is good for daz3d, and audio sequencers with alot of VSTi;s running with USB midi audio interfaces and controllers

3700x is quite nice considering its power draw, if you have good cooling go for a 3800x so it can boost properly.

the other two are overkill indeed because if anything, zen architechture isnt in its final stage so these flagships wont be flagships anymore in a year but budget super chips. Also keep in mind these platforms are still in beta and you might need a chip from a previous generation to patch the bios.

the 3700x is more or less like an stock i7 7700k with 16 threads.
