When I told him that Quake 4 is exactly the same as Quake 3 except with none of the stuff in it that makes it good, and that nobody in the Quake community actually likes Quake 4, especially the 360 version, he said "come on, there's got be a reason there's four of them"

He's a hardcore Halo 2 player. He refuses to admit the superiority of the mouse and keyboard to his crappy thumbsticks, because I suck at Halo. I can't be bothered to learn how to play - the game is too slow paced for my racing mind and all I ever play with him is 2v2/3v3 system link with him, my other brother, and their friends. His friends are too stupid to strategize, so I can't outthink him either. He has the most frags in every game he plays just because he outaims us, and he turns off powerups, leaving me no items to time. If he were to play PC games, he'd probably be a die hard rocket arena fan. He understands the concept of item timing, but he think's it's gay and he only bothers to do it when he's losing.

I came up with a challenge for him. I'm going to get one of his friends to lend me his 360 and then I'll go and rent a copy of Quake 4. Well play that for 15 minutes, then we'll play Quake 2 on 360 for 15 minutes. Instead of doing best out of X, I think, given the reason I want to beat the hell out of him, it will be better to keep score by accumulation over the rounds. I am confident that no matter how many frags he racks up on me in those two rounds, I will absolutely rape the shit out of him in a single round of Quake 2 on PC. The second round on Quake 4 will probably make him never touch a computer game ever again. I'd rather play in him in QW and Q3, but I think he'd rather play me in Q2 or Q4, because he's played and likes both of them on 360.

The higher his shitty little xbox live ladder ranking gets, the bigger his ego gets. He's been saying he's going to go compete in an MLG (Halo) tournament when it stops by in a few months, but he's going to get raped - he refuses to play the game the way they do. From what demos I've seen on the internet, 4v4 in Halo plays the same way 4v4 QW does on a basic level. Control the weapons. Control the powerups. Rack up as many spawn frags as you can. Exploit any in game glitch possible to your benefit. There's a bug in Halo 2 in which by going XYY instead of just pushing X you can shave nearly half of your weapon's reload time off. All the so called "pros" in halo are doing it, I showed him how, and he said it was gay and a cheat.

When he gets home from work, it is time for him to die.

Circle Strafing (The initial jump) in Q4 due to the "real" pysics code in the Doom3 engine dosn't work properly. It is still there but it is basically not very good.

When I first played Quake 4 my first impression was what the fuck happend to the strafejumps, nothing seems to have momentum. And let's face it crouch slideing will never be a replacement for broken/crappy strafe jumping.

I played a few FFA+bot games on LAN with my little brother (they are both younger, one is just younger than the other), threw in a bunch of skill 2s and a nightmare ranger so i could pretend i'm playing qw somehow and played some q3dm6

kid's starting to get the hang of aiming with the mouse, but he plays such a defensive game (and he does this in almost every game he ever plays) that it always backfires

i also stumbled into a funny little easter egg in cpma along the way. i'd rather play vs a bot that runs armors than an aimwhore, so I figured out how to get normal q3 physics back and seriously, arqon, you are an asshole >:|

It's not an easter egg. The bot can't work with vq3 physics.

How do you get it to play vq3? Console reports 4 lines of error code and then the bot quits.

Also: Is the long-promised CPMA 1.3x easter egg the one where you get the orangesmoothie motds when you rename... i won't say any more. Has anyone found that out yet?

You can't get it to play vQ3 but I think it's more that arQ's not interested in making them work for it than a fundamental incompatibility with the physics so to some extent you're right, vote vQ3 and they don't work but I don't think it's the physics, it's more likely either a sound engine issue or arQ wanting to keep the feature for cQ3 and CPMa.
