No it's actually ironic for two reasons.

Firstly, I get accussed of being insecure for simply entertaining the idea that gaming is a waste of time.

You're very confused, i'll try stating more clearly: there is no moral judgement in what i say, we were talking about success, and success does not entail morality. By saying that you can be a successful drug dealer, i don't mean that "Manson > Einstein"; perhaps, at a stretch, you could compare them as equals, with Einstein being a successful scientist and Manson being a succesfful criminal.

Obviously you're linking success to morality, i.e. that the successful man must be moral by definition. That's a flawed view, not everyone values morals highly, and it would be naive of you to think that everyone should: you can perform a non moral action successfully, which means success can be removed from morals entirely. You've wrongly attatched moral connotations to the word success: when i say "These white socks are good", i don't mean that these socks have performed altruistic acts in the name of the poor, i mean that they have performed their function as fashionable attire; in the same way, when i say a drug dealer is a success, i'm saying nothing of the morality of his actions, rather that he achieved what he wanted, he made a lot of money, and in this respect he is successful.
