Changing the visual parts around produces interesting results. For example, what if you changed the visual theme of CS? Let's say you took all the models and maps and guns and whatever else and put a sports theme on them. All the structural and gameplay aspects would remain exactly the same, but the visual part would be completely different. So instead of terrorists and counter-terrorists, you simply have team 1 or team 2 (or the actual name of the teams, like Manchester Utd.) And instead of an mp5, you have a made-up name like sxz3. And instead of a middle-eastern city, you have a sports arena. Would CS players like this version of CS? Would doing this expose the gameplay for what it really is? Can you really strip the visual portion of a game to such a degree that all you see is the gameplay? Is the visual portion such a major factor in why people play games that CS would be completely abandoned if such a change were made? If someone actually made this change, would we find CS is a better game for it, or a worse one?

Maybe someone should try altering CS in such a way. Could be an interesting experiment. I know I couldn't imagine CS in a sports theme. Although quake would be fine.
