Well the openAL mode somehow fucks the overall Q4 sounds, so I'm used to it.

Also happened to me. Then I turned EAX off and it worked... once I got used to it that is. It was a bit strange in the beginning (sounded like I was inside a can or something). Then I switched back to normal, and then I went back to OPENAL after a while and forced myself to play with it for an entire day -- and suddenly I could hear everything much better :>

I cant be assed to re-install Quake4, or more importantly, to deal with a new map every blasted LAN.

Downloading a new map pack is almost as big as a movie from the LAN final anyway!

The live cast is great. The movie with commentary is the next best thing!

I think a lot of the "pro" players don't because as far as I know none of the LAN competitions will support OpenAL anyway (CPL/WSVG/ESWC/etc.)

Wow, awesome demo. Both players playing amazing; actually in a way it felt like fooKi didn't play amazing at all by his standards but that doesn't really work out after seeing the scores. That was one amazing comeback though. Must applaud winz for those insane rockets throughout the game, and lg/rg wasn't half-bad either. The lg frag on fooKi leading to third(?) overtime... Just can't get over how insanely much damage that actually made in such short time.

All people complaining about Q4 - haha. The problem is obviously not with the game, and if you just "don't like it" then zzz, just because I think warsow isn't any fun since i want to shoot people rather than play a mountain climbing/100m sprint/flight simulator I'm not bitching every time it's mentioned. I just don't play it.

Both players are really really good, probably the best in europe atm, it's why this demo is fun to watch, Q4 is just a proof of concept : "good players can make a good thing on a gay game."

make sure demo_enforceFS 1 is on.

yes, it works. get 1.2 patch. get all the maps listed. get the latest q4max with the B patch. then do demo_enforcefs 1 n play it. it should be AOK.

lol, openAL? In my opinion OAL makes the sound EVEN worse in quake4, I've never played with it and it's still quite possible to hear people.

But really mang :/ When I tried to play with OpenAL on it seemed like I was fiddling with EAX features and the whole game sounded like I was playing in a cave with all the sound reverberating off all the walls, I hated it :/

Most likely since you actually had EAX enabled. If you have open al enabled AND remove the EAX in the meny it actually gets better.

refer to comment #49 -- play with OPENAL (EAX off) for a day and you won't be able to play without it

gonna check some eswc demos from winz, but I only saw the monsoon game (falcuma pov), in which falcuma clearly was better imo. dno, fooki's gameplay didnt impress me much on this map tbh.

winz's LG is way better than fooki's tbh... at one point fooki has 90hp50-40 armour, this is just before the 1st overtime, the tieing frag, winz just comes round corner and LGs fooki down in a second... amazing.

i also think this demo showcases q4 gameplay alot... there is alot of corner waiting with rail etc... not really that exciting

People like stamp collecting but that dont make it exciting, now does it. I like the demos, but indeed there is a bit to much hanging about waiting (not camping as such) about in q4 maybe all 1v1 shooters!?! Tactical play is nice but tactical play at speed is imo the most exciting to watch.

But I believe the frag you are referring to was a mistake by fooki, cause he doesn't seems to dodge at all. Maybe he thought he had won already.

i have both l4dm1.pk4 and l4dm2.pk4

but not with the _1 and _2 ?

i've tried renaming it to l4dm1_1.pk4 but it still doesnt work. anybody knows why?
