That's just a random event, the spawn system is already biased towards further spawns and will probably be further biased but there's a very thin line between set and totally predictable spawns and the chance of silly spawn rape luck.

No that's not 'only theory'. I am TELLING you the alternatives. You can have purely random spawns where you get bullshit like this or you can progressively bias it until you get predictable spawns. Tell me your magic solution if you have one.

Please read over my posts. I am not ignoring it, it is a flaw and I've told you the alternatives and the probable direction we're tweaking it in the future. As I said if you have an alternative method then suggest it.

Prevent spawn rape:
A probability system in where you have more chances to spawn in a farer point than a nearer point in relation to the enemy actual position a moment before the spawn happens.
farest 30% , far 25% , medium 20% , near 15% , nearest 10%
or
farest 35% , far 30% , medium 20% , near 10% , nearest 5%

A more complex alternative but interesting is one that takes into account the health/armour weapon/ammo of yout enemy and changes the probability system accordingly. the weaker your enemy is the more probablities you have to spawn near him (good for comebacks).

If you make a less random system, its easier to predict it, and then again easier to spawnrape. Which i believe is what greg is complaining about.

No. Easier to predict does not mean easier to spawnrape. Think of a very big map: if you would spawn in the farest point from wich your enemy is it would be easy to predict but dificult to spawnrape just to give an example.

Imagine you only have two spawn places both far away from each other and every time you die you spawn in the farest in comparision to your enemy position. This way it would be very easy to predict but impossible to spawn rape. So my point is proved, I hope you get it.

Thats true but cpma maps are usually small and highly connected and you also have cpma movement to top it all so predictable spawns usually leads to even more spawn rape.

The fact that you have to change the properties of the map to extremes in order to prove your point actually just proves mine. Its not a property of the spawn system but of the map, unless ofcause you go to the extremes where any small differences would be visible.
In reality, on normal maps, im right.

I think a mix between enemy position/distance and probabilities is better than a 100% random system where you can spawn 2/3 times in a row near a loaded enemy. Random system is more luck and less skill. Ability to predict is a skill too.

Other interesting point to this discussion: not always we want to spawn far from our enemy. If our enemy is low on health we would prefer to spawn near him. I thinking of a interesting gameplay feature: when a player dies he as 3 seconds(or something) to choose 1) spawn near your enemy 2) spawn far from your enemy 3) random (default). If he chooses option 1 he has more probabilities to spawn near the enemy, 2) he has more probabilities to spawn farer. If he doesnt choose any option spawns in a random position.
This would diminute spawnrape and improve comeback probabilities wich i think is good for gameplay.

If its easier to predict where a player spawns, it is always easier to spawnrape him. Its a no brainer, and i dont think you have made any arguments against it.
Even if, as you said, the other player spawns VERY far away, it would always be easier to find him, before he finds armor, if you know where he spawned.
Could you please give more arguments as to why you think it would not always be easier to spawnrape when its easier to predict where he spawns? Preferable in any map, not just an imagined very-big-map-with-two-spawns.

I do however agree with you that choosing where to spawn would be an interesting game mechanic to test. Im not sure it would really work though :-)

Do you really think there can be something considered more spawnrape than being easelly killed four times in a row because you spawned in the exactly same place near a loaded enemy? Or you consider more spawn rape if you spawn 4 times in a far place been able to get a decent weapon, probably pick a armour (if the map is well designed) and force your enemy to run to find you somewhere?

This would put a lot more pressure on low health enemy and make it easier to comeback, and harder to spawnrape. Games would get more tight and less luck based.

Yes, you would have to have an insanely big map for the upper hand player not to be able to get there fast enough.
And the upper hand player can also choose not to spawnrape, if he doesnt have the health/armor for it.

In a random system, unless you only have 2 spawns, spawning the same spot 4 times in a row is extremely rare. Sometimes it happens twice in a row, but its far from in every game that happends (unless ofcause its a blowout victory for one side, and then it doesnt really matter anyway).

About the choose-where-to-spawn thing, i agree, it would be interesting to try it out.

A completely random spawn system where you never spawn nearest (nearest the enemy at time of death) and never on the same spawn point twice in succession would do it for me.

i think the way out is more spawn points though.

It's not cpma's random spawnsystem's fault as such... It's cpm3a thats a small and predictable piss poor map.

You're pretty wrong about the ""obviously" frustrated". I don't know, it just has that funny thing to it. It's like you put words in my mouth. No, I wasn't frustrated, and please, for future purposes, use "I think" instead of "obviously".
And in my head I pretty much know where I stand. I just didn't care much about the game, hadn't touched cpm in a week.
Yes, I did have a different sens because I played warsow for a week with a sens way higher than my cpm one so I kinda had to average.

VoO had some pretty crazy moments, i loved it.

Somehow it looked like he made a vow not to let go of the forward button all game long ... something was fishy.

VoO has much more potential then any other gamer I know.

Im not so sure. but in this game, I feel vo0 is not so serious in playing against koddy.

Although some cpm maps are nasty or anything, I guess if vo0 tried his usual appetite to win, he could have won or got different result ,at least.

Dno what comment to answer, I'd rather write my own. This match really shows how interested in warsow Vo0 is now, making fun of CPM, not showing his real at all, messing around etc. So, at least Vo0 had found a game that really suits him :P
