toxic is obviously a top player and will always do well at tournaments but watching him play galang is the most boring thing alive, sit with rail gun wait maybe rush with lg, thats about it it was like he was avoiding the rocket launcher most of the match and got what like 2 hits with it?

im afriad if stermy vs toxic (on galang) is ever shoutcasted that everyone watching might fall asleep from the instagib match that will happen

thankfully not all maps are like galang and someone is truely is all rail/aim will not win a major tournament (stermy played a great, a lot more defensive, phrantic 2nd half vs lost-cause so i dont consider him all aim cept for galang)

It's obvious toxic knows how to win on galang and he does so by removing his opponent's ability to be a force in the game by controlling the areas he needs to be in to maintain his stacked status.

toxic is playing smart and it's up to his opponent to slow him down so he can get some control of the armours or the mega and eventually be stacked enough where the fights you mention aren't so easy for toxic to win.

As you see in this game it's not an easy task to stop toxic doing as he pleases. Cooller does exactly the same when given the opportunity so perhaps it's the mark of a top Q4 player? :)

So yeah the fighting is as you mention but it's not so much toxic's fault it's more the map allows him to be comfortable in that style of play and it's a winning style so of course it should be used and also perhaps his opponent isn't doing enough to force him out of his comfort zone or in fact isn't being provided with the opportunity to do so for example maybe his opponent is unlucky at times where he isn't able to spawn and kill toxic when he's low on health.

Also I don't find it boring to watch.

As for stermy vs toxic it'd likely be a very exciting match to watch particularly because stermy will likely go for the spawn frags whereas toxic prefers to sit back and let his opponent come to whatever map area has an upcoming item spawning to get his kills. I don't know which playing style would work with stermy vs toxic but I guess it would depend alot on who had luck on their side after losing control of the map.

Yep, I watched it and cooller did everything toxic does and a lot more such as taking rail to stop toxic getting it so quickly after he was killed, going for spawn frags, and generally being a nuisance as quickly as he could after getting a frag while still maintaining control over the mega/ra/ya areas when the item was soon to be spawning.

It's kinda obvious the top players know toxic's weakness is that he relies too much on the opponent trying to break his stacked status (to get his frags) so he'll find the top players won't let him get to the point where he is controlling the map with ease anymore instead they'll dominate him just like fojji showed on monsoon and now cooller on galang.

It's unfortunate toxic didn't stand a chance on galang this time around and I would say it's because he didn't actually know it was possible to play so strongly like cooller just did but for sure he'll learn from it and it'll make him a better player and not just on galang he'll be a lot better on all maps (as we just witnessed on phrantic) because he's up there at the very top and now others have shown him his weakness he'll have to strengthen his play and the only positive way to do that is to emulate what cooller just did.

So yeah Q4 playing styles are evolving and for sure there is a lot more to come.

What is interesting is that from what I've seen the playstyles differed very much between the two events. Which imo just proves how much room there still is for improvement.

The play styles at Lanwar was rather weak in comparison. For example at Lanwar most games seemed to end up as all out aim fest, whereas at Dreamhack, the game while still aim heavy was much more "ruthless" with clever and good use of spam (Almost non existant at Lanwar) and what looks like far greater dodging (Lanwar guys seemed to love running into as many direct rockets as they could)/movement and non hitscan weapon skill.
