as far as i can see, tom is a pretty skilled player, doesnt use EB much, the only problem i can see with this strategy is that u have to get up close and on some maps thats really hard to do without taking two bolts in the face from a +back railer...

that's what ammo and weapon control is all about.............

erhm, in a game where people move fast direct weapons are hard to hit, try getting a crosshair on someone in CS and then in WSW

well tell me xhep, is it easier hitting a direct rocket on a fast moving opponent or an EB shot? imho its easier to hit the EB shot, but the guns deal the same damage, doesnt this mean that the EB is more important that the RL..? i would say it does. another example ive got was when i played vs u and vo0 in a 2v2. we got totally owned, but after the game i looked at console and saw that 95% of both your frags came from the EB. what does the say abt the relative use of the other guns? sure u can use them, and i do, if anything i only use the other guns(mainly RL), but i do kno that if i go for an EB shot and hit it, ive pretty much secured a frag. i dnt have very good EB aim tbh, but i kno that if i hit even one shot, it *drastically* changes the armour/ health situation.

either way, im aware that the EB is going to change,(hopefully drastically, FPS's since QW have all been hugely hitscan heavy, i for one have had enough of rail/shock rifle dominated gameplay) i was just pointing out to Xhep that regardless that EB aint as easy to hit as rail in OSP for example, doesnt make the weapon any less imbalanced.

It also depends on the situation, EB and any direct 100 dmg weapon in any game, are ment for long distance shots since, good luck trying to hit rockets if the enemy is on the other side of the map. Using rail-like weapons in close combat is generaly a bad idea, and that is where the rocket launcher sticks his head around the corner. when u have armor to survive atleast one rail shot and you get up close with your opponent that is using EB, 9 out of 10 battles you will win. U say Vo0 and I raped u when 95% of our kills were made by EB? Shame on you for not controlling the EB ammo, and shame on you for staying out of our rockets reach.

you make valid point about the situational use of the Electrobolt when your enemy is at range, however this argument was used with UT also, that SR and LG are only useful at long range( Lg more than SR)
and what this lead to was a game where the meat of the game was fought in the long range SR shoot outs... at this point i will quote the warsow dev team: "Fast-paced gameplay focused on trix (trick jumps) and art of move" this is what is described as being part of the concept of warsow. does the EB imba not stand in the way of this slightly.
"Shame on you for not controlling the EB ammo" should control over one ammo box take precedent over things like armours/mh. do people even bother trying to control the other strong ammos? what u just said reinforces my point, that the EB is the most important gun in the game, if controlling its strong ammo is more important that controlling a different strong ammo...

EB is ment to be the strongest weapon in the game, so yes, its strong ammo is more important then any other strong ammo (except LG maybe). Besides, its not hard to control it, since on wdm1 (currently the only suitable 2on2 map imo) the EB is far away from the red armor, so you should b able to control it when the other team controls the RA, u failed to do so tho. Perhaps the insta 100 dmg weapons were fun in the old days where it was actualy considered a skill to hit 2 shots in a row (Q3 impressive reward). But at this day and age we have a mouse fine tuned for gaming and mousepads that go well with that super mouse. Aim has become too easy and weapons like rail have become game destroyers.

why is EB meant to be the best weapon in the game? where in the warsow concept statement is it that "there shall be one uber rail like weapon that beats all others"? as to your remark that good aim has ruined the game, why not make it harder to use, things like the RL require more skill to get a good hit with than an EB shot, also its so easy to miss one rocket because of the small splash, its uselessness when ur opponent is in the air, makes the electrobolt reload delay not seem that bad aswell as the movement allows you to make quick getaways.making it more of a real skill and control weapon ( think of something where the amount of damage increases as you charge your EB shot or something, so u can still do quick flick shots but they wont do as much damage as a fully charged shot )

I think it is more a case of predictability and how well one can aim (duh).

If someone is taking a linear path, anyone with a bit of Quake experience can easily track them instantly with the mouse up to crazy speeds, as well as flick shot them with relative ease.

Same applies to warsow but in this case its map lines, obvious wall jump locations (which tom hits also) and of course the spawns (a couple).

You'll also find that it isn't the ease of the weapon but more because it’s a powerful and very useful one thus practiced a lot so even the lower skilled players tend to have semi OK EB aim, take shaft in Q3 for example.

That's my take on it anyway. Besides can you tell me where the +back EB in this demo is? I've just watched it and failed to see it, apart from the couple of spawns (this isn't whoring but common sense). Couldn’t see no serious defensive EB; only when tom had control in the final few minuets and closed was securing the game.
