I thought Forever was playing the game of his life TBH.

He was hitting some crazy rails throughout the entire match. Half of his kills had to be by rails if I remember correctly.

You don't have to play a good game (too bad eh?) when your railing like that.

I agree, Cooller didn't appear to be Cooller buy gg to Forever for stepping up.

Forever was pretty railonly (no offence). I do think that rail in Q4 should do much less damage (=80?). It's just to easy to hit and the beauty called Quake is slowly turning to be shit like CS.

That's a good amount if the rate of fire of the railgun could be lowered (ie. faster shots, like ut's shock rifle)

The shock is 30dmg isn't it? I used to tear people up with that thing, and I would be worried Q4 would become too hitscan if we increased the rate of fire on the rail.

80 dmg works pretty good for other games WITH air control, WITH a faster engine and WITH faster movement. So now, since everything is slowed down in this game (the Q4 engine was built with less horizontal speed) I can't see anything above 65 being a good thing (Maybe... maybe 70).

People seem to really dig 80, but I personally think it needs to be lower after having a nice time digest the "state of play" thus far. I was previously "for" allowing all of us to SEE what happens with 100dmg. One tourny later, I was like "fuck that" heh.

I'm kickin an old horse though, this kind of thing will never happen.

The LG just needs to have the 'hold you in place when you are getting hit' crap removed in favor of normal knockback. That along with non-retarded hitboxes would lower LG accuracy to q3 levels.

Which makes it a great comeback weapon but a shitty spawnrape weapon. Player who has the control would not just pick up stuff, run and rail anymore because he would do 0 dmg. Thx for the compliment.

Very impressed with cypher. Him and av3k are both amazing players, age caps on these tournaments is pretty annoying.

Didn't you read what vo0 said? After losing against cypher, who was the best player in this tournament, cooller partied the whole night and the result is this match.
Forever lost 2-0 against cooller in the middle gorup phase, and that is what I would predict in most games between these players.

you know.. i was there watching the cooller vs hunter games live and it really looked like cooller wasn't motivated when playing against hunter on phrantic. on monsoon though.. he was totally on fire and it was 20+ something to 0 until the last few minutes when i left the place. it looked like cooller was just having fun on stage, getting up in the middle of play and blowing kisses towards the spectators cheering for him :) after watching that game, i was really surprised when i heard he lost in the tourney.

I found the hyped up monsoon game incredibly BORING. There is not much action going at all, it's just winz sniping with the railgun, and fooki trying to catch him with the shaft. That map is so terribly flawed I predicted this would happen a few times after I played the map. Infact, all maps with a railgun can be so terribly flawed and are SO railgun overpowered yet no one seems to care about a 100 dmg instant hit weapon in 2006 with 1000hz, 2000dpi, smooth cloth surfaces and whatever equipment people have. Yet a rocket which has about the speed of a flying fat squirrel, does 100dmg as well. Something is very wrong in the equation.
Anyways, the only "non-shite" part about that demo is the fact that the game went into an overtime in a very cool way, that's about it for me.

its not like ppl dont care about the 100dmg rail beeing overpowered. its just that after the first month and lots of discussions no mod, nor syncerror could be convinced to change anything. so most ppl acceptet it and adapted (or quit ;))
i still think a 80 dmg rail would be better, but i kinda gave up, as dd most others imho. anyway, im kinda glad that not every second q4 is abou balancing and flame any more...

I think the problem isn't 100dmg per shot, but too big Hitbox so it is very easy to hit. It isn't rare when in some "high-skilled" match have both players 50+% accuracy with rail and that's kind a strange. Remember those times in q3 on some Tournament when someone had rail about 45%, that person was called machine, aimbot, inhuman, godlike etc. But to be honest these accuraties are nothing in q4, the same applies to shaft of course.

Not only the hitbox. Its the equipment that is geting better and the pro gamers play alot more.

If all the pro palyers we have today would go back and play Q3 we would have insane Rail and shaft % ther to.

The game might be rail friendly, but the 100 damage instant hit weapon in anygame nowdays is going to be insane if you have open maps with alot of gaps in them (like the Mega/yellow room in Monsoon).

I think its all down to the maps. They all seem to be quite open, and easy to cover or trap players at the major items. That style of mapping encourages the hit and run style.

Perfect example is RA on monsoon. It's a free rail hit if you know your opponent is going for it. RA on galang is a deathtrap.
