Well this is a late update, but we landed up going out for about a year. We kept meeting up in countries, so first the UK, then Czech Rep, then she came to live with me in SA, then after that we both started studying in Italy. First week of being in Italy she broke up with me.

Well it is difficult to tell what he meant via text. There's three potential meaning of "quite a bit":

1) I know quite a bit of Islam - I know a whole lot more than you do - very boisterous and prideful.
2) I know quite a bit of Islam - I understand some Islam - unsure and concerned.
3) I know quite a bit of Islam... - I actually do know Islam - humble yet wise.

Which one is it? I'd say the first one. I must've mistook him for a snob who thinks he's always right because that's how he actually acts like. And it is nevertheless surprising to see him act like this if he studies religion. I have not met a person that studies religion (for anything, even historical background) to behave or think narrowly like he does.

I still debate against myself about the differences of love and lust. I have been involved in a "sexual encounter" which made me and that girl close friends years later to this day. She's actually a very beautiful girl with a very kind heart yet she can be blonde and pathetic at times. She still tells me, "I love you" when I still question myself if I feel love or it is plainly lust. So to say sex can lead to love is very much inconclusive!

But then there's a new twist: What about the event which was to be your "first love" and your "first virginity loss"? Does that actually constitute to real love? Some people obsess over their first love because mainly of the life-changing experience they went through regardless of how corny or lame that person was. Then again there are cases albeit rare when a person finds true love and decides that person to be "the one".

But in this case, it's very much different because people post opinionated posts with no back up or they assert points with error or incomplete understanding. Islam (or mainly religion) is one of the most misunderstood topic around. Even myself, I would misunderstand a couple of things until I got it right through research, critical thinking, or through an accredited scholar. That alone would take up days or months to finally figure out that misunderstanding. But people here just aren't willing to do it. That is why I call those "Atheists" the unwilling people and ironically religion condemns those kind of people. I guess it doesn't advocate laziness and cheap shots, eh? ;)

Perhaps we have a miscommunication here. Sure people are born into a religion but they may not be taught well enough. They may not be challenged enough. Their environment may not be fitting enough (America is the worst place a religious person would want to be). And their whole life may not be revolved around religion at all. There are many variables for those that fail to understand religion. For example, one Catholic friend attended Catholic school since she was a child. A few years later, she lost her faith persuaded by the weak argument of atheism. What have they even learned from that school? Nothing apparently. Have they forgotten to teach science? Because I noticed that on TV where all evangelists do not mention a thing about science unless they are challenged to.

I have to apologize for my behavior. Look, I'd love to give you all the proof in this world of religion and such, but quite frankly I am bored (translation: I have no patience) of doing that. The reason being I have done this so many times that it gets very tiring for me.

I wish I could've saved that entire 100 page conversation discussing the existence and science of God I previously had but I didn't. That 100 page conversation drains so much energy out of me. The average Atheist doesn't even have to do much and has little or no good argument while the average Jew, Christian, or Muslim has to do all the work correcting the Atheist's misconceptions along with constant reading of finding proofs already in the holy books and other sources.

What you and others have been doing all along is sharing with me your constant misconceptions and I grow tired of even trying to correct it unless there's something new about it. Do you know how many times I've heard of wrong accusations towards other religions claiming they encourage violence, oppression, inequality, and such? People keep pointing to the news when they are most of the time irrelevant! I have to constantly repeat this: "Just because you see this occur doesn't mean it is true with others" or something of close similarity.

With that said, please understand that I really don't care to discuss this with you because my goal isn't to make you accept religion but to correct your thinking so you can be tolerant of other religions. But forget this. In fact, I rather you stay Atheist. Or Agnostic - but you said you had no faith so what's the point of being "Agnostic"? And your arguments you listed shows you have no clear understanding or knowledge of religion. You can easily define religion but still be wrong about it.

And I am not a part of a "one man cult". I have no beliefs. I only study them and I grow to understand why religious people are religious, why atheists aren't, and why religious people constantly try to convince others to join their faith. This is why I dismiss those who claim religion is all manipulation and brainwash when it really isn't.

It's easy to make an accusation about religion than to defend it. I can call you gay and you would have to prove yourself in great lengths to prove yourself not gay. Most religious people say, "Fuck it", in defending themselves because others are usually ignorant, have no knowledge, and the fact it does take quite a lot of work to defend religion. That's why I see debates go on for 10 pages in a forum and it suddenly ends because the religious guy quit.

And I never asked you for any proof. I don't need your proof or anything. The only way to disprove religion to prove it from the original source and no one has ever succeeded to this day (at least for the Qur'an).

Sometimes people are fixated on the fact religion is wrong and stupid because they research into only one religion. They don't even look elsewhere like... Islam? I honestly doubt very, very few people here in the ESReality community ever read and understood the Qu'ran. Yet people want to talk crap about it. For the life of me, I don't even know why besides the fact they're so opinionized.

And sometimes that goes out of hand which for example you say you dont think God is just. Who really gives a fuck what your opinion is? If there was a God and he created you for a specific reason, you follow that objective. It's very funny that Atheists reject that. Disobedience! However, from studying the Abrahamic religions, I've come to learn that this isn't a God that's unfair. He provides us the reasons for why he ordered us to do certain things and why things are the way they are. If that God was so unjust, then why would there be so many Jews, Christians, and Muslims in this world? People always had the common sense back then to know this.

And you know what? "Religion" doesn't even deserve that label. According to the holy book (God), religion is the only right way to live so it should be true for everyone. But instead it gets a label called "religion". If you understand what I'm saying... :)

All my life I have been Atheist. I still am. I live my life like an Atheist and my friends can testify that. Unless there's something I'm missing, please do tell me how Atheism is so complex? But why do I sound like a devout religious person? Let's just say I have a unique ability of switching "on/off" in my brain where I switch mindsets quickly. I understood Hitlerism, I understood White Trashism, I understood Buddhism, I understood even Scientism. During the day I am Atheist, during night I study a topic with my mindset focused on it.

In fact, upon studying religion, I had no bad intentions to begin with. I did not try to disprove religion but rather tried to live their viewpoint. And did it work? Yes. I now understand clearly where they're coming from. As for emprical proof, I found plenty. But one must realize the historical reasons as to why they are stated the way they are. I learn entirely new things just by doing that. And when I am in that position, I am also dumbfounded as to why Atheists did not discover this same knowledge that I had attained. You have to ask yourself why there was religion in the beginning of mankind in the first place. If religion were true, then everything Atheists claimed (e.g. used to manipulate people, brainwashing, etc...) would be ridiculous.

It was actually a coincidence that this conversation on MSN occurred the same time I read your comment. This conversation was the best answer to your statement of understanding something in 60 years. If you looked at it as if I was an arrogant show-off, then I'm sorry, I didn't mean it to be. Just look at what she is saying. I am a non-Muslim that actually turns out to understand Islam while she, as a Muslim, still has to catch up to my amount of knowledge. She's 20, being Muslim her whole life, while I'm 19, being Atheist for a really good portion of that time.

It requires no faith for me to believe in gravity, i feel it's effects everyday, and not only do i feel them, but so does everyhuman being on this planet. In fact, regardless of whether i believe in gravity or not, i would still feel it's effects. You may say that people feel the effect of God, and so his presence too is verfiable, but there is a sophism there: even though God's presence is felt by the religious, it is not by the atheist; for god to have an effect, faith is needed.

I'm in awe of your supposed knowledge, if you truly knew all you claimed to know you would share you knowledge: in my experience, those who seek knowledge, also seek to share it. You say that Athiesm has nothing to prove, that is wrong. Religion, yes, has something to prove, namely the existence of God. Atheism, however, also has something to prove, namely the non existence of God.

Proving a negative is very difficicult, especially when this negative is intangible and unknowable. However, it is not beyond the realm of atheism to attempt to show the probability of God existing is low. Of course, you then take on the unfalsifiable nature of religious satements, which you have so generously demonstrated: I say i have not seen God, therefore he does not exist; you reply with "You have no opened your mind and heart to God, therefore you can not know him.; i reply with "I have opened my mind and heart, searched into the depths of myself, and have no found God"; you reply with "You merely have not studied religious texts properly"; etc etc etc: do you see how this is circular?

My point is that the only true verfication of religious statements comes eschatologically, there is no other proof as such. To state otherwise is to misinterpret the purpose and foundation of religion in an almost embarrasing way.

I seek knowledge, i seek to be able to justify my beliefs to other people: why? I guess for validation, maybe to sound clever, maybe to help myself understand. But whatever the reason, i do something you don't, yet claim to do, i analyse and provide basis for my claims.

I do not believe in the God of Islam, Christianity or any mainstream religion. I believe religion is a mixture of social manipulation (Marxism), the ideals and perfect virtues of society, mystical belief and ignorance. I can provide logical reasons for all these ideas, of course, to a religious person the answer will simply be "That may be why we have religion, but that says nothing about God, or does anthing to dislodge my faith in him". I accept that wholeheartidly, but i will not and shall not allow anyone who thinks like that, to present it as fact: simply because it is not.

Sociological and psychological ideas form the basis for religion, they give the why: the provide reason for it's existence. For myself, as someone who grounds himself in emprical fact and scientific observation, i can accept this and a full explanation: that does not mean my mind is closed, it does mean i await God to reveal himself as the underlying force behind the universe. You may think you know all there is to know about life, that God provide salvation, etc: but to me, life is about the here, the now, what you do in this exact moment, how you spend the minutes of the Day, how much you enjoy your own llife, and provide enjoyment for others: i guess i'm utilitarian at heart. That sounds suspicously like religion, and it is, only without the crutch of an everknowing, everloving creator, who will forgive me whatever my short comings: i answer to myself, and myself alone, you may view that as a positive or a negative thing, depending on your viewpoint.

Ye, you're right that religion have made the life better for billions of people throughout history and I think we ALL can agree on that. BUT don't tell anyone that there isn't a bad side of especially the dominating religions today. Post christianity was basically used by the roman government to control Europe by making people do what they wished through fear. Because back in the old days the preachers preached in latin and normal people who attended the churches didn't undestand anything. But they did understand ONE thing, if they did not follow the ten commandmendts they would end up in HELL instead of heaven. Oh, and heathens got burned to the stake just for that. It was not untill the time of Martin Luther that the protestants seperated themselves from the vatican and translated the bible. Think about all the treasures which the vatican withholds today. Think about all the scientific reasearch it could fund.

And DON'T tell anyone that christianity or islam is good for everyone. Me and my brothers have gotten the chance to choose our own religion from an early age, none of us were baptised. I for one have explored christianity on my own out of curiousity and I've got to the conclusion people can be easily blinded by the fantastic stories and incredible designed churches. But the stories are mandschauvenistic, selfish and generally ILLOGICAL. And by illogical I mean, e.g why live a lifespan of 0-100 years just to go to heaven/hell when you die? I have finally pinpointed the reason that she snapped. She's been juggling FOUR internet boyfriends including me and they were starting to wonder who the fuck the person sitting next to her was. She was in the shower when I got in, I called her out on it and she said she was "joking" and tried hilariously hard to explain it all away.

If saying things "no dirty talk" and "i was so pent up i came in 5 seconds" is her idea of a joke, that is pretty fucking twisted :)
