Every mice has DPI, his ball mice is a 400dpi one iirc, but I might be wrong... I'm not a geek or anything :)

Yes, you can also measure DPI on ball mice.

Razor was very keen on this when they introduced their boomslang mouse, which was 2000 dpi.

Just try it yourself. Load a map in quake 3, type "cg_fov 300", "cg_zoomfov 100" and "+zoom". Then try firing the shaft. You will notice that the lightning is very thin.

Negative acceleration is technically correct. You wouldn't normally say negative acceleration instead of braking if you were talking about a car since braking is far more common. However with mice the common term (here at least) is negative acceleration, so I see no problem.

It's commonly referred to as "negative accel". You know how when you move your mouse to fast at it "lags" or whatever?

negative accel : when you move the mouse faster, the crosshair moves slower (travels a shorter distance).

mouse accel with a high sensitivity isn't a good idea.

I don't think he used it for the last few years he was playing, was just normal 90 fov, 9.6 sens, 400dpi mouse (I think he did eventually switch to optical too.) In this match up he's definitely using his newer set up.

Every time that I watch this game and I've done it at least three times now, I just can't help the feeling that zero4 was a little bit more lucky than zamuz. It could be enough to win on this map and on this level of competition.

If anyone is curious about where ZeRo4 got his name from, RogeR from PlanetQuake3 did a pre-QuakeCon 2002 interview & asked this question.

PlanetQuake3: How did you come up with your name "ZeRo4"?
ZeRo4: I came up with ZeRo4 when I was signing up for www.zone.com to play war2 online.
Zero was my favorite song back then by the Smashing Pumpkins but it was taken so I put a 4 at the end because the song is on the 4th track.
The name has stuck ever since, except I do have a different alias like every day when I play on public servers.

Edit : check his 1'25 lg for instance. :P
He misses a couple of rather easy rail shots too, quite typical of a high sens.

Z4 was all about high sens, flick shots, a huge feeling of the game and a rather agressive playstyle. That was lovely and what made him such a special player imho. :)

Heh.. I always loved ZeRo4 - Z4muZ games, although there aren't so many of them out there. I guess that's because Z4, Z4muZ and also fox and czm as well were my favorite players. I loved their playing styles and like to recall them as well. Pure sweetness out of Quake 3 juice <3

Z4, Z4muz and czm have in common a rather high sens, unusual rocket skills, and a clever and rather agressive playstyle. That's what made them my favorite players with cooller. :)

z4muz..sens 2, accel .8 and pitch/yaw 0.014 and 0.15 not very high imo

rufus told me the accel makes it really fast for him, raw numbers mean jack shit anyway.
