1 journal a day is too much of a limitation for a relatively useless calendar...

Usability is improved because it's easier to navigate the journals though. It's a balance.

The other thing we were discussing was having multiple journal entries for the same day on the same page and merging all the comments.

No offence, but I wouldn't call it a balance, more like the easy way out, couldn't think of another way, change for the sake...if it aint broke. It's a nice enough calendar, and under other circumstances would be great.

Since yer in this thread - the OSP/CPMA demo section is now more-or-less redundant. Can we have vq3/cpm?

Surely you can see the balance? On one side I had an unwieldy bunch of links where it was hard to see where you were, where you were going and what you were doing there anyway. Then the new one shows quite nicely the dates, the days of the week and lets you navigate through the entries, but doesn't let you have more than one entry per day. Balance see. Do you actually remember how it was before, because it was pretty shite even if I do say so myself!

I'm not arguin it aint an improvement - just that the cost of restricting journals to 1 a day is too high. Even if there's not many people that post more than...

Surely there's a better way? It's not a balance, they're 2 seperate entities - you should restrict as little as possible on a site that lives off user contribution imo.

I'm sorta torn between taking this seriously and not, but I've been convinced that you're just pulling my leg now :).

Couldn't you just make the calendar buttons link to another sheet of calendar, like a page for the day, with the titles of the journals written in a list - So you'd pick the day, click it, and if there was more than one journal the calendar would send you to a seperate page that lists the journals that were written on that day.

Better yet, why not have it so when you hover over the link, a box appears with all the journals written on that day, like the menu boxes they have on ebuyer. That would be a pretty simple (visually, no fucking clue about coding etc), and elegant solution.

Could do that yea, good idea. I don't want to overuse javascript (any more than I have already) but maybe this can be done in a simple way.

There's an option in demos for choosing the mod. In there you can select either no mod, cpma, or cpma vq3.

On topic I thought the calendar thingie was alright and one journal/day is better (imo). Got more to add - edit, simple as that, don't wanna open a bunch of journals from the same user and day anyway, duh.

also i shouldnt think there are many ppl (if any) that would do more than 1 journal a day

Superb! Now I need to click through dozens of calendar pages until I found the journal I was looking for. I really can't see the advantage.

Couldn't have every journal for a user visible anyway. I only had it that way temporarily when journals were new, because I didn't have time to do it properly. Eventually the links would be too long and unweildy.

Also I'm changing the calendar navigation to ajax so you won't have to reload the page to flick through it.

Can you please put the option back in where you can search for users who are offline?

why would you want to know who is offline .... if you are looking for a user just use http://www.esreality.com/?a=users and tbh whoever isnt on http://www.esreality.com/?a=online is obviously offline ;)

It's useful becasue sometimes you want to check up on what someone said a month or so ago and they might be offline.

before I used to be able to click xxxx online users, and then click the tab on the right that showed all users.

Now if I want to quote someone who's online i have to find a thread that they commented on then click their name.
it was just quicker easier before and it's a feature I miss.

up top ... site -> users lists all users and you can still click xxx users online and get the online list

Must have missed the list all button when I added the countries, will put it back. But as 240 mentioned the link is still in the menu also.
