I think its fantastic. I grew to like the map the more i played it, so fast & action packed.

I still think up till now Rokky has the best map knowledge on astronomy, check his demos on chtv his movement across the map and awareness of the enemey was top-notch. He just got out aimed/dodged by the super-finns after they got warmed up in the later stages of the tourney.

The map isnt perfect as its still in beta phase, personally i think the ra area needs work, especially with the teleporter going nowhere useful.

I've never seen it before but I definitly think it's a pretty good map.

I'll have to assume koddy = rokky in this one. I disagree on this one. I watched rat the whole time and gotta say I can only think of 1 or 2 instances which he was just kinda searching the map for his opponent. His aim was definitly top-notch and gave him quite an advantage though.

The RA area could use a 3rd, even if discreet, exit/entrance because it's much to easy to get trapped down there. Even with a large HP and armor lead, a well armed opponent with decent aim can bring that down pretty easy, if not score a kill. Even if you made it to the teleporter, you're shoved in an even smaller and harder to escape area... for a couple seconds atleast.
This is just a personal problem but I think the elevator shaft should be a tad bit bigger and move a little bit fast :P

The rabbit-hole, as I call them, under the 50Health should be a little bigger or a grid like under the YA so it can be just as useful. And players need to start using them!! Why not land a rocket and/or grenade on your opponent from a totally secure position!??

I agree about the lift platform should fill the shaft and should be faster, the 'rabbit-hole' should be scrapped i think there are enuff ways to ambush those stairs as it is.

A better location for RA-tele exit would be the same as it is now but higher up in the air above the window to RA - similar to CPM22 tele exit from ground rockets/25health. i.e. you come out in the air you can either choose to drop down, or use air control to land at the shotgun.

While a pretty cool idea, I think you might come out too close to the YA, and the map is pretty easy to lockdown already.

maybe high/far enough so you can't just spam a rocket right in the face from the top of the stairs that lead out of ra room? (make it more distant/higher so the guy going through the teleporter can't be hit anymore)

yea thats a good idea, not high enuff so he can reach the sg platt, but high enuff so he cant be hit by a direct rocket, although he would still get splash from the side wall

yeh really great map, shows exactly what CPM is about: action, nice moves and imaginative playing style. would have been a perfect Esports platform... RA area is a little too vulnerable its true, but thats all i think should change alot.

I can't manage to like cpma maps because they never have anything original, or a special type of architecture.

I understand that cpma is about gameplay, but if you look at standard quake 3 maps they all have nice scenery which adds a nice atmosphere to the game. All cpma maps have is walls with some color on it, cleverly put down as to make it good for gameplay.

Alright the map has nice textures, but I'm more talking about the architecture, (the way ztn, dm6 and tourney4 all have their own trademark).

i knows what you means, all great maps need them, people just have to be creative enough to come up with a new one.

dm6 and tourney4 are commercial id maps, hardly fair to compare them. ztn is probably the finest quake custom mapper there is whose maps are at a commercial standard.

Lunaran's cpm2x (can't remember _again_) is very, very good looking - in fact, judging from his site, id hired him.

however, astronomy looks beautiful imo

well the id maps are usually somewhat gothic style or tech style and have the design all over it. astronomy has way too many edges and stuff helping the cpm gameplay but maybe ruining the perfect look the vq3 maps might have

cpm15 looks so nice imo.

This one does (some textures nway), it kinda has a sewer motif running throughout it.
Too much emphasis on architecture and you run the risk of making a map which ends up looking nice but plays shite. ofc it's possible in fast paced dm just takes a lot more time.
Besides after initial viewing all you really see/process is the basic layout when flying at a 100 MPH.

check the polish duel mappack, all are beautiful. Play more plduel1 !

Btw, imo, the koddy vs rokky is much more exciting than this, will post it when I get home :D
