I think there is a tension between the two because CPM people are overly vocal about there mode (And vq3'ers obviously like to defend the game they know and enjoy, and like to be vocal in return) and how VQ3 is "all rail" (and similar) and thus you get arguments about how each game is actually played and also arguments about whether gameplay elements in VQ3 or CPM are "better".

So really it's all just ignorance on how each game is actually played. I doubt you could find anyone who actually hates the other game/it's players.

Well since the VQ3'ers were about first and bigger in size I guess it was them 'hating' on CPM when it was trying to advertise itself as the biggest bestest badest game ever etc.

I think its the other way around. CPM have always had a small scene of competitors, and have allways advertized "play more promode", dont play noobmode etc...
