i'll put it this way, who called South Africa, "South Africa", first? English people or evilAMERIKA?
*psst* here's a hint, NOT evilAMERIKANS CAUSE evilAMERIKA WASN'T ESTABLISHED AS AN "ENGLISH" SPEAKING NATION WHEN ENGLISH PEOPLE STARTED CALLING THAT COUNTRY SOUTH AFRICA (nor did the "shit" evilAMERIKAN "bastardization" exist yet).
in fact, you're better off blaming the DUTCH for going in there and raping the place first, then inviting the Brits in to start naming shit as they pleased.
too many kids brainwashed into propogating the BLIND HATE.
Which one? There's 11 official languages in SA ;)
My first guess was Afrikaans but the country's name is 'Republiek van Suid-Afrika'.
I did some research and my second guess is that 'ZA' comes from 'Zuid-Afrikaansche Republiek' ('South African Republic' also known as 'Transvaal Republic') - a country that ceased to exist at the beginning of 20th century and is now a part of Republic of South Africa. So it would seem that the origin of 'ZA' comes from Dutch and not from 'their' language.
