Nope. I want good frags and pure combat skill to be displayed. Running around on a map really fast is great and all, but it won't win you any games if you can't frag.

Seeing a guy bounce off 4 properly placed rockets so that he can get to a really high ledge gets boring PLUS you have infinite tries to get it done. In a clan match you don't second chances so good skill displayed then is what impresses me, not trick jumps practiced and repeated until they worked.

you make it sound so easy though. it's not :) trickjumping takes skill, creativity and dedication.

and a decent PC :)

well my rig is 7 yrs old and it has no bother with fps

you can always callvote pmove 1 if you dont get enough fps.

Yes it takes skill and time but like I said you get many chances at it, in a match you have one opportunity to make all of the right shots and the right moves.

I've never liked fair trickjumping movies and I'd rather watch a demo of c9 vs aAa or 519.

yea but sometimes it doesn't matter how many chances you have. fact is, there are only a few people who can do stuff like this just like how there are only a few people who can really stand in the top tier of quake dueling or tdm. i'm not a trickjumper myself and like you, i too prefer fragging but i can appreciate trickjumping because i've tried it for a while and i know how hard it is to execute as well as cook up new tricks. that's why i don't really agree when people compare fragging to tricks. to me it's like billiards and snooker. you play both on the same table and use the same equipment but they're pretty much entirely different sports.

i too got bored with a quite a few parts of this movie as i couldn't really relate to it but there were also some parts which made me go wow because i know how hard it is to pull these runs off, even with multiple attempts.

I pretty much agree with you on how you view trickjumping. However, I have no interest in watching billiards ;)

Sorry, I guess you couldn't make the jump from clan match to league match, I know it is quite hard.

Try to find a frag movie which can impress you that much.

There are only a few frag movies which are going to be that awesome, since you've already seen every single frag and know every situation. Only the perfectly-done frag movies are worth watching.

I'm getting bored with all the frag movies, which came out lately.

Of course, I prefer the frag movies. But the tricky ones impresses me more lately.

Nice movie

People who are getting bored with defrag movies have no idea what it takes to be good in defrag. Frag movies are a lot more spectacular to a regular viewer than trickjumps because a regular viewer cannot fully appreciate an amount of skill and huge dedication to make any of those runs.

I played q3 for 6 years, but when i started defrag 2 month ago i found out that i cannot even strafe jump worth of shit even tho i compeleted every regular trick jump there is with ease.

Summary:
Movie frags: 20% skill, 20% situation, 60% luck
Movie tricks and runs: 100% mad skill

q3fuel2 : 80% skill, 19% situation, 1% luck

Summary:
Movie frags: 50% skill, 20% situation, 30% luck
Movie tricks and runs: ~50% skill ~50% dedication.

You see, the reason why fragmovies got so many luck frags in them is because they're funny. But I've seen alot of frag movies who focus on skill (timing of items, tricking the enemy etc.)

true. even a noob like me can be seen in a couple of frag movies. there's no way in hell i'd ever make it into one of these even if i keep trying. i simply lack the skill to do tricking / defragging and yes, i've spent days trying.

I totally disagree. Movement is tied to a fixed scenery and sometimes predictable player actions. A certain trick can be practiced over and over again till it works out. Frag movies are nice because they display spontanious skill instead of some 'scene'.

btw. i really like defrag videos, the only thing that annoys the hell out of me is the third person view...

only first person shows the real skill of a player and is much more enjoyable to watch imho :/

That's true, but some bits of third person gives a great "wow effect" on the spectator.
