but then again you can play 4 duels in 1 hour... which would make a total of 4 hours for 16 games....

Ye if you dont count warmup's, eating between games or smth ... I agree 4 hours of pure playing..

I think that if youd realy plan practice (like some ppl do (fatality for example)) that you can just play 2 times on a day for 2 hours in total and play at a very high level during those times. so I don't realy think you'd be sitting on your computer the rest of the time... but that's just what I think ofcuz :)

Even with the time in-between, he'd likely spend five hours per session tops (maybe six if he takes the time to go over demos). That would give him more than enough time to be outgoing everyday, not to mention his practice regime has gotten him $70K richer this past year, so I'd say he's pretty well off.

Well ye he's pro, so he doesn't really learns how to play, he only repeats some situations and tries to get higher AIM. I'm talking if you want to become a pro player, you can't only practice for aim or smth...

Well, obviously. As someone who's doing that right now, there are lots of things about duelling that you can simply pick up with practice and occasionally watching pro demos. It's like with schooling -- you don't need to review things you learn over and over again to get the jist of them, and how you study/absorb the information can be adjusted to what you feel is best for you.

Even if he made as little as $20K, that's still good for four to six hours of work a day to travel around the world frequently.

Considering most people can't play more than 3 games of q4 without poking their eyes out and needing a decent break inbetween I'm guessing 15 duels would take the best part of all day and late into the night.

I never play Quake more than 3-4 duels a day casualy ... Also I play basketball :P for 11 years now :D well I know I'm much better there, but I always like being in competetive group of friends :) Dunno how to say :)

Second, his point for this thread was to ask u dumb geeks, is it alrite to play for fun, or should he fuck all his 5+ years job (alrite, not a job, but well).

The answer is simple tho.
I was thinkin the same someday. I have all what other gamers would like to have (almost).
I played (if this means "won") loads of good pro-gamers on my entire q3(4) life.
Now im the biggest's Lithuanian gaming site administrator and all QUAKE (3/4) Leagues supervisor and so on.
And so on and so on.
BUT.
I dont feel that its easy to get off all this. Why? Like 7 (dont know why did i chose this number) years ago (maby more) i wouldnt tell you that PC would integrate into our life so much.
But nowadays we see that thinkin "im a gamer, im so different" is so wrong.
Everyone on it. Every single man in the earth now has some connection with internet and all these things.

Well, when you attend tourney after tourney, gaming becomes job... It's pretty strange, you do job you love, but you do it so bad, that you aren't get paid :)
