Have you tried certain mice with their latest firmware and drivers that affect performance? Oh, that's a thing, the MX300 and MX500 require their Mouseware drivers to function at 800dpi, but there's issues with these drivers, mouse acceleration being one of them. I think the CPL mouse fix would sort it, though.
There was a rumor, at the time the mx300 and mx500 were released or shortly after, that the logitech drivers emulated 800 dpi, since without the drivers they defaulted to 400dpi or something like that.
well iirc, with drivers installed it defaulted to 800 dpi. then logitech released the advanced utility to switch the mouse to 400 dpi cause of the complaints of neg accel.
I definitely remember a while back people always whined about negative accel on their mx500, and I thought that was the primary reason they even released the mx510. I was going to ask about the mwadvanced program too, if you tried switching it between speed and precision settings
