wow, I don't know if viju is beeing a sore loser or just really suspects TELNET/Walter is cheating but obviously he's beeing very wrong here, looks like clean aim to me, and good use of the sound and prediction, nothing made me go "wtf ?" here.

58% RG with the CPMA netcode, vQ3 physics and 18 ms is nothing special really, even vs someone who can dodge well.
Dodging will not help with a good ping and a good netcode when someone is on fire and is using an instant hit weapon. Playing RA3 from times to times, I thought viju would know that.

It's especially sad to give away cheating accusations like that when you've been cl0ck's teammate. He should know better really.

What i noticed in the NA scene is, anyone who has be suspected as a cheater always says they are going to lans, but it never fails that something comes up and they can NEVER EVER go.

Erm btw, going to LAN proves nothing.
There's a well-known cheater in France who went to LAN and performed quite well. :)

Hacks are excellent tutorials, my guess is that someone playing a lot for two years with all sorts of hacks will learn A LOT faster than most other players.

So what if some dumbass plays with hacks online and plays well in LAN ? Does it prove he doesn't cheat ? I don't think so.
Just like the fact that someone doesn't attend LANs doesn't prove he cheats.

In any case, in this demo, everything seems totally clean to me - if something looks wrong to you, well point me to the timing and explain.

You guys need to chill down about cheating, going mongo each time someone utters the words "hack" or "cheat" won't stop idiots from cheating.
Just because we discuss hacks and the way they can benefit their users doesn't mean we promote using them, just stating facts here really.

I've been a league admin, I've banned people from my league for beeing recognized cheaters, getting an ulcer over them just isn't worth it.

from my experience with q3

I can tell that telnet is NOT using any aimbot for sure.

If telnet is using a wallhack then it is either very poor quality wallhack..(cause I downloaded a wallhack to see the demo with a wallhack on so to see any major wall hack type of incident...well found almost none. .....the wallhack was showing everything ...I found only 2 rocket shots with some unseen prediction but tht stuff happens with practice ..doesnot really require wallhack to do) or telnet is very cleverly acting sometimes that he is not seeing extra things......which is almost impossible to perfect .So I conclude telnet is CLEAN. But he should prove his capacity atleast in one big lan...then it would be beyond any doubts.

I am not aware of any other kind of cheats and I would like to remind that I dont cheat and neither should anyone..it kills the fun of the game.

viju is an idiot. He could have asked for the demo like anyone with half a brain instead of calling telnet a cheater right away. The part where viju says only a cheater could aim so well vs. him is hilarious, the demo proves him wrong he moves like a beginner and most of the rails were easy shots because he is strafejumping/in the air.

The fact walter/telnet was accused before doesn't matter at all, just look at the demo, he does not cheat in this game, there is not one single suspicious shot made in this game and wallhack would not even be useful on a map like aero.

well it appears you're mistaken. I'm not going to back viju for his accusation but I am going to back him up for his legitness. If you dont remember, he played with c9 for ctf. at qcon 2003 at which they won. Qlan 2 in which they won. and qcon2004 which they placed 2nd. Even if he didnt do as well in the 1v1 category he still strutted his stuff in ctf. Not every person is a wildcard in this game. He is a good dueler just he definitely proved himself legit back in the good old days of ctf.

Duel and CTF are 2 completely different things. He states he is LAN proven in a duel but he isn't. Fair enough he contributed to his side winning in CTF but standing around with a railgun isn't hard.

All the great european CTF clans disbanded in 2002. I'm sure if IQS, Cx, WR were about and it was 5v5 we would of seen a european 1-5 finish ;)

Why is it that the one thing that comes to my mind when I hear the nick 'telnet' is cached.net + cheat accusations? I never played you and probably never will but why do you have a reputation of being suspicious? Usually everyone who's any good gets accused at one point in his gaming 'career' but after some time of steady play those accusations fade away. That's different with you.

Go play a lan sometime soon! I'm kinda interested how that'd work out because on the one hand your demos do not look half as bad as the famous cl0ck incident but on the other I've never seen anyone with such a different playing style doing that well.

Ok first of all walter/telnet or whatever is not cheating at least not in this demo, and i'm 100 fucking % sure of it.
When you've been playing q3 or a very long time you know if someone is cheating instantly from playing him, but for viju to say a thing like this is just insane and proves how fucking stupid he is.

yeah, sorry. i obviously should have continued playing and kept my sore losing attitude to myself.

however, i do stand by what i said in the demo (just really wish i waited til after the 15 min mark to start spewing & the auto /stoprecord to kick in).

if walter does go to cpl and aims as good as he did in the demo, i'll seriously happily reimburse his plane ticket. in all honesty, i think that'd be a good move for e-sports to bring out talent like that and also so he can clear his name (i know i'm obviously not the only person that thinks he cheats). also, being a very fluid player as he is, there's no doubt in my mind that with talent like that he'd be standing to win thousands at the event itself, probably land a sponsorship deal or two and get geared for the world tour quite nicely.

The funny part is I didn't really think he cheated 'til I saw this demo, too much bullshit. For a starters, how about the fact that he pulls off an amazing dead on rocket immediately after leaving a tele but can't hit him any time he's on the stairs under RA? (he's absolutely miles off) Funny how he goes from rocket god to slightly backwards gerbil in the space of a minute.

P.S. I also thought that teleporter frag was insane. telnet came from rail tele to green armor as viju was entering the portal from the opposite side (toward rail), and, as soon as telnet exited the portal, he made an amazing 360 to land a rocket right in viju's back a millisecond before viju traversed the portal. I'm pretty sure that's hard to do since portal exits pretty much fubar your mouse, but maybe with accel or something like that it's possible.

The problem with walter is that there is a long history with him and cheating. Many people have thought he cheated, he has been associated with other cheaters and has gone around accusing others of cheating. There is no definitive evidence that he does cheat but there is a lot of circumstantial evidence against the guy so it makes people suspicious.

Obviously he needs to show up to a LAN and prove his talent. If he really is natural the guy will tear up winter CPL. Until (if) this happens then it is best just to reserve judgement.

Also, knocking viju = lol. He is quite a nice guy and one hell of a player, arguably the best Q3CTF defender ever. Obviously he was frustrated but everyone acts like a bit of an ass at some point so let it go.

You've misunderstood something. The first time Walter has been accused of cheating was when he destroyed Stidcriss in 1v1. Afterwards he started becoming very good in ctf, then started beating stinger/shadow in 1v1 and playing FFsmasher and Carnage in 1v1 and doing well. THEN he beat Bio/Chance in that ggl tournament where ppl started accusing him of cheating.

He had been known as an ASSHOLE in quake 3, for the longest time. Not a cheater.

I don't think attending a LAN really does anything. most people aren't rich, and affording a trip to wherever the hell the LAN is, even by car, can be out of the question. what would he have to gain, anyway? maybe he doesn't care about joining some stupid tournament, and maybe he doesn't care about silencing the critics (although posting as much as he does in his demo threads might be a testament to the fact that he does).

but really.. 'if you're really that good, go to CPL' isn't much of a solution for your average college aged kid, since they either don't have a job or can't afford anything because they're spending everything they have on school (thanks capitalism, viz. America).

and even if he did attend, he would obviously not 'tear everyone up' or whatever it is you said. playing to his normal ability, he would lose by 20 frags to cooller, fox, toxic, or equivelant (at the top of their game).

granted, he would most likely place top 16 at a tournament of 128-512, and, with luck, top 10.

Whether he would win or not and how easy it is for him to go to the LAN are different matters.

If he shows up and plays well = Will never be doubted again
If he doesn't show up = More suspicion
If he shows up and plays poorly = more suspicion

I will admit that proving myself to be a legit player in quake would probably be towards the bottom of my list of things to spend time/money on. :)

I don't think there is any direct evidence of it, if there was then people would just point to it.

It has more to do with the fact that he was an average/sub-average player for a long amount of time then suddenly got good. Albeit, it wasn't a very rapid change but it seemed so as a lot of people were inactive. Combine this quick improvement with the rest of his past and people draw conclusions.

To be honest, that isn't the reason why I suspect him, I think if somebody really wants to win they can definitely get good. It's a combination of things that make me believe it, the demos, the fact that he's the type and he hangs around with people who do shit like crash servers or he crashes them himself, and are therefore into the whole exploit scene. Plus the fact that I can watch a demo of anybody else (czm, daler, any of the good players) and see them pull off some amazing things but still think "that's possible", sure there's times when people pull off bullshit out of pure luck, but several times a game in several games? No, just doesn't happen. That's what really gets me.

If he isn't a cheater: good luck to him (ish, I still KNOW you're a cock sucker) and sorry.

I see what you mean, I don't think he's a hax0r or anything at all, also, he's not just DDoSing the servers or anything, as far as I can see, he's using actual exploits to cause the server to crash. Which means he's visiting places with that kind of shit lying around, it wouldn't surprise me if it had other 'hacks' for quake. I don't know if it's him but I know he's hanging 'round with people who do it though, that's all I'm saying.

I'd just like to say walter is a joke.

He acts all modest afterwards but is the biggest asshole and shittalker most of the time. He brags about his skills and claims he would get top 5 at CPL. When he loses he cries and breaks stuff and crashes servers and hates the game. I've also heard hes not going to CPL anymore for some odd reason, even though he claimed he would go to prove everyone wrong and get top 5 placing because he is such a superb player. Its one thing to say you're not going to go from the start, but when you claim you would be going the whole year then drop out at the end..that just makes me lose all respect.

Anyways, toodles, back to the batcave!

You are correct that in assuming I don't know much about the American dm scene, which probably can be said about most Europeans. Similar to your lacking knowledge about the Swedish scene - even though the skill level is many times higher. The only thing I can recall about the American scene (of late) is that whenever your tdm clans come to European lans, they struggle to even make it past group stages.

Do you see Swedish demos of accused cheaters being posted? Do you see Swedish gamers whining like 13y old kids when they lose (well ok, you do, but they don't go crying "CHEATER!" and have long hateful battles on teh interweb). Do you see retarded "OMG YOU CHEAT COME TO LAN YOU FUCKHEAD!" comments?

Another euro thinking europe is 10x better than North america again?

Without going into the entire history of quake it is pretty easy to point out that there have always been top NA teams and players at almost all major competitions.

Cloud9 (with your boy viju) won the first Quakeqcon CTF tournament after much trash talking by euro players. Afterwards there was plenty of complaining from euro players about the 4v4 format and inclusion of maps such as q3wcp15.

Cloud9 then went and won QLAN2 in a 5v5 format in europe and proved that they were tops once again. They eventually lost the finals of the next quakecon but 2/3 international tournaments is a pretty good showing.

In the later years of q3 czm was regarded as one of the best and his only real opposition turned out to be Cooller..Russia != Europe. Before that there was zero4 and even before that fatal1ty. North america has always had players at the top of duel.

Last night there were 2 americans in the top 3 at WSVG with only the beast called toxic representing europe.

TDM is probably the weak spot of NA, there are likely many reasons for this but that is another story for some later time. In q3 NA didn't accomplish much in TDM, no argument there. However in q4 TDM there was once again the talk from euros that europe would sweep the finals and decimate NA. Instead one euro team finished last and ic ended up facing the weaker of the two NA sides.

So in conclusion TDM is really the only area that europe is any better than NA at. You can also say that NA is better at CTF so in the end it is all even.

These cheating controversies in NA seem to mostly involve just a few players. In fact it has been mostly walter and his clanmate/friend marcus posting these demos on ESR trying to start crap.

I am also not sure why swedish/german/polish players ETC would come onto ESR and post in English since it is obviously not their native language. If ESR was in french then I doubt you'd see many, if any NA people around :)

technically, russia does equal europe.

anyway, Clan Kapitol dominated team deathmatch when they were around. no one else in north america really came close, barring maybe the stickmen.

however, I'm pretty sure the point of his post isn't that the USA (and Canada) do not have some of the best players in the world, but that the general skill level in many European countries seems to be higher, on average.

it doesn't mean he's not being an arrogant prick, but I'd tend to agree, from my experience (~7 years) of Quake 3.

I've played on western US servers, South African servers, Russian servers, and Australian servers, and I've watched people from each of those countries play Quake 3.

I'm nearly as familiar with the "scene" in Europe as I am the "scene" in North America.
viju is a pretty good player in the US. people don't go around beating him at random -- he can go on a server and win 15 games in a row.

if viju played on the internet in Sweden, he might go 10-5 or something like that. that's all I'm saying.

Technically Russia is located on the Asian continent and not the european continent. It doesn't matter too much though, and geography is zz anyways.

I would say that there are more skilled players in europe but I think this has a lot to do with the fact that many more people play in europe. Yes, this would make it easier to be a top level player in america since you have less overall competition but the top level NA players are at the same level as the top euro players. I am sure europe has more complete newbies than NA as well due to the larger number of players. (Actually, I have witnessed this first hand).

So it all comes down to numbers and have you perceive things.

I DID mention zero4 and czm in my original post. My post was not about the 3-4 absolute top American duellers, NA has pretty much always had a few players that could compete (and beat) top Euros. And I enjoyed watching their games, plus they showed sportsmanlike behaviour.

However, the slightly-below-top NA players (I have no idea who they are atm, but I would guess clock, walter, viju?) just seem to be a bunch of whiny kids with egos to match.

if you had any knowledge abotu russia you'd know that they have to get a visa to get out, which is something they won't do if there's something important like a BIG tournament and not some small one.

Toxic is one player. When czm was dominant I doubt NA went around saying all of NA > europe because that would be stupid. It really seems like you just don't get it..we can list event after event where a NA player/team or a euro player/team has won. Fat won PK, toxic won q4, c9 won quakecon, ic won TA finals etc. What matters is the overall picture. Overall europe and NA do pretty much the same at international events. Generally the top NA players have as many people in the top 3-5 as the euros do. If europe or NA was dominant over the other then your top spots would look like:

1) Country 1
2) Country 1
3) Country 1
4) Country 2
5) Country 1
6) Country 1
7) Country 1
8) Country 2

and so on..Amazingly this was my point in my original post yet you haven't figured it out yet. I suppose you'll just keep listing a specific subset of events from now on..

After typing this crap, I noticed how long it was... please forgive me father, for I have sinned.

Personally, I see NO difference in potential of any country or of any people. You get any group of people to play seriously, that skill will be fostered, and I'm not a very politically correct guy either.

To the degree that a game is played seriously (e.g how many people) and for how long - is to the degree you will see a higher level. The country simply doesn't matter.

Americans for some reason, are not serious gamers. AT ALL. Which is why we get tons of wannabe pricks at the top. These clowns stroke each others cocks, and pay little to no respect for your average gamers not in their circle jerks. It's no surprise Americans choose not to fiddle around with these fruitcakes, if he was so inclined to improve his game.

What we have to be careful about, is knowing we don't know these guys. Just how they behave in a game, and how that effects others around them.

But for a recent example...

A guy can't even join a GTV server and ask a question without some dipshit acting like some prick mother fucker. It's quite sad, and spare me the bullshit if you happen to be reading this. Accept your sorry ass, and move on. That was just annoying.

Trust me, this is not American talent... this is mostly puppy chow, with bad attitudes.

I could make a list a mile long in our scene of A-holes. The Quake scene needs more people like "Tex" from the Unreal Tournament scene.

Good, helpful and always around for a few games, no matter the skill, he's down, people. I cannot tell you how may times I bugged that dude for a game, when he could have been bettering himself playing higher skill people (would he be bettering himself?), but he would always play me, while getting his hardcore games on too.

To make a long story short, after a few months he could get his hardcore games on with me, and he would not be wasting his time. What's funny is he doesn't even know this, or know who I am.

This is sad but UT2004 was one of my first PC games, and I'm 28 now.

The Euro scene in my experience does not have this brick wall to overcome in the Deathmatch genre, and in a sense I feel other genres of games, do not constitute this kind of problem either, in America.

It's funny because when I was a very high level wrestler, I wanted nothing more than to help other wrestlers. I understand the "server" environment is not your typical atmosphere, and is prone to abuse in the form of chat. But still....

The MMA scene is like this too, since I've moved on to this. Egos hardly exist, AT ALL. I could rattle off a list, but that would pointless... the best guys will always answer questions, help you, and roll with you. Period.

But that too has its fare share of marketing, over priced clinics and other assorted business bullshit.

So anyway, about that country thing :)

I remember the day that almost the entire q3 ctf scene was convinced that viju haxed with at least autofire. was about 2k1 to 2k2 if i remember right. His first big lan wich was qcon I think stopped all the acusations. This could just be a repeat of the same type of situation.
Either way I like both Walter and Viju. Sad to see them go at each other. Hopefully they can put this behind them and get on to some good gaming.

i still do that in ctf whenever i manage to get in the time to play, but i think in duels with two above-mediocre players, anything above maybe 40% rail would be ridiculous (of course there are occasional exceptions [someone's running hot and/or cheating]). just my thoughts however.

well you see if you never miss the easy shots, it's pretty easy to go over 50 even with 2 above-mediocre players. it's not always like u dodge it everytime the other player is railing you(and with u i dont mean you viju :)). most of the time u get caught strafe jumping and or out of teleport and without air accel u can do nothing about being shot. and if you are good enough to hit even half of the difficult ones it's over 50.
but of course it's damn hard to hit every single easy shot. though it's not impossible there are guys out there who doesn't forgive mistakes.

almost every random swede can rail around 40-60 nowdays in CPMA. (with some luck)
and LG (35-40%) NO PROBLEM

but then i saw hsi recent dems and from wht little i know of quake 3
1-he doesent cheat
2-he plays a nice game,real fun to watch

same with telnet/walter ....

noth dont cheat and are fun to watch according to some 17 year old in a third world country with 256 kbps "broadband connection"

How can you call telnet a hacker? I swear I remember watching cl0ck play telnet on ztn on a public server, and cl0ck smashed him so hard..this wasn't actually that long ago either. Honestly..I am not sure wether telnet is a cheat or not..but go to cpl next year please.

well ok i finally got around to watching this, and i think the cheating accusation is fairly absurd. at the time viju started whining, telnet had only shot 15 rails, and had a score of around 30. all his accuracies were fair average in my opinion, he made some awesome shots at the start, but they just seemed unsuspected by viju. i've never seen a non-obvious demo of someone botting, but i really don't see anything remotely suss in this demo :/

goodluck at CPL telnet, i hope they don't do this to you :(

I haven't watched any of walters demos, and I don't plan to. A lot of people say he cheats, a lot dont.

The only thing thats gonna put an end to this is if walter shows up for CPL. If he doesn't, hes gonna be labeled a cheater forever and ever until he goes to an event.

Money isn't an issue, because if he really is that good, then he'll win it all back and more.

So... just show up.

I was really hoping walter/telnet would attend CPL like he said he would.

Would of been nice to see how he would stack up against top players on lan.

I haven't watched this demo but did watch the last drama demo vs carnage. :)

Well i saw his demos.(With Wallhack ON) You could easily make out that he is using Wallhack.(He shoots sometimes at the edges of walls when the enemy is nowhere visible).

About the Rail Aiming.:Im not sure 50:50

P.S If he uses WallHAck,Why won't an AimBot too. =))

a few months late i guess with this post but here are my thoughts...

1. viju is overrated and is using stupid arguments in this game
2. walter/telnet is not using aimbot, wallhack is hard to prove.. could just be good predicton.
3. #duel-admins are total retards, i'm glad i'm not in ETG or whatever (or play duels for that matter ^^)
