The demos of this match, as well as all the others started to appea shortly after I uploaded this one. So I thought "OK, they are uploading by themselves, thats why nobody approved my upload".

Btw.: The reason why I uploaded this matchup (besides being a cooller fanboy) was, that I thought it was interesting to see how much cooller improved during the three maps.

Demo section only didn't work for a short spell at BarrysWorld when they took down the ftp. That was years ago.

Why do you think CPL, the only major tournament organizer to hold q3 events, is making their own game instead of using q3 in 2008.

Well that's your choice and I respect it..I just hate the q4 trolls who constantly bash q3 and the people who play it just because, in their own fucked up worlds, it's been dead for 7 years...we all know it's not the case.

Q3 promode is much faster than Q4 and overall Q3 is a much more stable game with a lot more functionalities (bot support, gtv, handicapping, mvd etc. etc.) Also better netcode. The list goes on and on. Crouchslide is cool, but a mere gimmick compared to what Q3 has to offer. And Q4 is supposed to be the sequel. It's a prequel ffs.

Yeah I agree. cpma is a great mod for q3. Takes tons of skill to be good at it, but tournament organizers never use it (at least the default CPMA the way it was meant to be played).

Q4 still has potential to be a solid game though. And since I have 1000+ hours in it, I'm a fanboy and wish that every event has a q4 tournament.

q3's been dying for 7 years and q4's got potential and looks promising since it hit the shelves.

So that's why most quakers stick to the game that won't die instead of the game that will never hit it's true "potential" no matter how many patches and fixes you can imagine.

i know those 3 aspects are facts.. but you cant tell me that you see a big diff between the view height and model height.. thats just becuse maybe u can hit less in quake4 or something.. ( not in a negative way.. ) I mean do you really notice it or just use those arguments to not play quake4.. you can also say that just dont like it because less people play it and the graphics are over the top or something?

man, the view height is the reason you feel so damn heavy in q4 (i mean the game had exactly the same speed as q3 in pre 1.3, but the view height made it look so slow.)

then you cant jump over a crouching player, i certainly notice this more than often.

ever asked yourself why it is so hard to get out of the lava on phrantic if someone is shooting at you with mg? with the q3 view height you would realise that this edge is damn high. (bandit once made a gtr build where he set the view height to the one of q3).

so the jump height is nearly the same as in q3 but the maps are much taller, dont tell me you dont notice this. :)

Many people started with Q3, where there was this big FPS DM boom. People thought it was great. Now every game based on this genre is dieing or is already dead and there are so damn few people coming in. All the old ones left prefer the games they started with mostly. I have a special soft spot for Q2. I can't put it in the right words but that's just how it is. I'm quite sure this is the case.

I started with Quake 1. I had the most fun in Quake 2 (I was young and loved playing). But I have enough objectivity to admit Q3 is the best quake game simply because it is :p

Quake 2 had something magical about it right from the start, it played really well on 56k modem and brought teamplay to exciting levels (drop weapons / team binds etc). I learnt a lot from players who I met on the servers like Lord Spanky, Stormkeep, fei etc, I think the community then (from 1998) was more about hanging around on servers, chatting, learning new tricks and of course lots of amazing frags!

The demo was boring, but wait thats not why were here. This is Quake4 bashing time now.

q4 vs q3 is like... cpm vq3 vs osp :) The first sucks, the second rules, but people have to play the first coz competitions' organizers force them to :) Still, so many people chose to be forced... (sarcasm)

I prefer Q4 to Q3 - and yes, I played q3 for 5 years.
