shgOpen 2007 is a reality! This year the event has moved to Bella centre in Copenhagen,

Denmark. Bella centre is located only a few minutes travel to metro station, international airport and the freeway. This year the event will feature a wider selection of exhibition booths, gaming tournaments and other entertainment activities. Up to 2.000 gamers are expected to attend the event.

It all takes place from Friday the 16th to Sunday the 18th of February year 2007. The complete prize sum will be 500.000 DKK (or approx. 65.000 euro.)

Tournaments & Prize Distribution (Approx Euro/DDK Conversation)

- CS 1.6 - 48,700 Euros
- CS:Source - 5,100 Euros
- CoD2 - 5,100 Euros
- ET - 5,100 Euros
- BF2 - 2,800 Euros

Live event coverage will be provided by Inside the Game. German coverage will also be available on GIGA2.

The Quake-scene in Denmark in non-existant really, that's why there is no Quake-tournament. We wouldn't be able to fill up a tournament with Danish players, and since shg waited a very long time before deciding whether or not to have Q3, the event is too close for us being able to draw any players from outside of Denmark.

Shame, really.

I did a little research (_very_ little) and it seemed like no one would show up, unless it's like 5 minutes away :) And since almost all Danish quakers live in Jutland..... 8[

I hope I will be informed a little earlier next time, cause three weeks isn't exactly enough to gather every quaker in Denmark.

Maybe if you promote that its gonna be Quake3, and add a decent prize money to it, balancing it a little compared to stupid CS, people will show up.

I don't work with or for shg, I work for a Danish community-site - currently the only one covering Quake-tournaments. We just got permission to run a small Quake 3-tournament and don't even know the prizes yet.

Of course I will try to get decent prizes now (and next time as well), but I can't really announce a tournament before I'm told that we can run it :)

They've just announced a tiny Q3 1v1 tourney, from what I could understand there would be some HW prizes, but no prizes are announced yet, so ye, probably just hardware.
