what's this suppose to fix? like, listen server demos and the infamous gtv lag demos?

its supposed to fix demos recorded with bad connections...
rate / maxpackets / packet drops / etc...
But the way the smoother works makes it work with any kind of demos (gtv, and whatnot).

well yes.. the demo used was an extreme example to show what the tool can do. if it's that choppy, the fixed demo will look a bit floaty but overall the result is still much better than what it was. atleast the demos become watchable.

on regular demos which are choppy but not AS choppy as the example used, the tool has in my experience produced some nice results without too much of that "floaty" feeling.

the settings are very important as well so hopefully people who use it will provide us with feedback if they find settings that give a good balance between choppy and non-floaty.

If this turns out to be really useful, maybe it could be built in to CPMA so that whenever demos are recorded this code automatically gets executed so that all demos are 'unlagged'?

Might have to remove the .NET framework dependency for this to happen though...

the .net dependency is only there because of the GUI, which is coded in c#.

All the demo loading / parsin / smoothing / rewriting is written in old school C and is in the demosmooth.dll

The gui is just a frontend.

Just wondering, does it only smooth that person's POV? Because I have a recammed demo (done with q3sdc) and it doesn't seem to smooth out the player that was lagging (the one I shot).

yeah i dont really know why sdc demos dont work properly, and tbh i ve been too lazy to investigate the issue...

but in a regular demo, both the local POV and the other entities (other players) are smoothed.

so i recommand smoothing the whole demo, and THEN cut it with sdc (or recam it with a diff pov). This will work allright.

i guess i should look into that sdc thingy, and see how he encoded the demo...

oh well, i ll check that out later :D

tbh sir, you've done a good job already.. I wouldn't be wasting my time trying to support things that already bastardise the demos.

problem with q4 is since modmakers can mess with the network code, aka what information is sent about every entitity, all mods have different protocol, and its a mess.

Its one of the thing making it very annoying for creating a gtv that works with all mods too.

you need the information for every mod...

just a big mess...

q4 is a piece of shit... you will never see stuff like this in q4.

make it parse out GTV text too, and you'd have a bigger winner!
