I think I called him a timefragger as mini windup at the start of q4 and he told me Russians called him a "Zadrot" which is something similiar.

It might have been just before q4 came out as he pwned me in q3 and I was talking shit about his time advantage would be gone in q4.
Come q4 he still raped me so I just shut up and accepted he was just depressingly that much better than me.

wtf is a timefragger?

It's basically someone who only wins because they play the same maps over and over that they seldom if ever encounter an unpredictable scenario.

You can often spot a timefragger by playing them on a new map.
By doing this you force them into relying more on natural abilityawareness, as opposed to their years worth of revised playtime.

That's why CPL are looking for new maps. It's pretty pointless using the same old maps, otherwise players like fox could just play q4 all year, play q3 for a week or two to get back into sync and still win or come damn close to beating the newer players.

If they use new maps such players will have to invest a lot more time and have a lower chance of winning because they can't rely on their past advantage.

encountering all on dm6 takes way way WAY more time so it's almost impossible to become one on dm6, if not totally. it has endless possibilities

Yeah ZTN is a good example, but it applies to any map TBH.
It's just more evident on linear maps like ZTN.

I think if ZTN had a two way teleporter and a few other tweaks it could be fun again. Maybe mirror the map or something to get rid of the revised strats and confuse people a lil'.

this map does not lend itself well to more serious play.
it is far too linear; it limits access to rooms to one or two narrow corridors, constricting the flow of the game.

this leads to a lot of 'chasing,' and I'd given fooKi an edge before watching the demo -- my reasoning was partly intangible, but it was also rooted in the map's nature of being lightning gun intensive.

essentially, the map is too small.

there was a rocket by fooKi at 10:23 that wasn't half bad.

I'm not a huge ztn fan, but those games on cpm29 and pukka looked really bad...

I really like the new maps. I think we should give cpm29 some more games before deciding if it sucks. Pukka is an excellent map.

pukka might have potential, but i disagree about cpm29. its pretty much horrible.

cpm29 has way too much height advantage (w/o rail to counter it its overwhelming) and lg domination ..and gameplay is repeatative..ehhhmm...I kinda think pro-q3tourney4 can be given a second chance ..yes its rail dominated and all but games look far more interesting on it than this map.

t4 with shaft would be interesting :d

there is heavily a need of a none lg map
the lg is much tooooooooo strong in cpma
why so much non rail maps its definetly more difficult to hit a rail on quake3 3 than work wit hthe lg

i wasn't paying attention to the initial spawns, but i think it will not happen that often, a player get ra and mh. the game was very balanced first minutes, but i think when he made 2-1 you just tilted and gave him a lot of easy frags tt

thts what I think too...breaking control against somebody of even same or lower skill level is ridiculously difficult in cpm29...making things boring.

but on second thought, it will be good to watch very top notch pro-s lke cooller, czm etc on tht map to see is there smarter ways to play it (and we are just unable to think out of the box) maybe I am wrong ..but I would very much like to see an even game in cpm29 before any further thinking.

Both maps look kinda interesting to me. It's nice to have a non-rail map but I don't know which one is the best.

Regarding Sparties comment, maybe it's an idea to switch the shaft placement with one of the lower level weapons?

You could always come to the upper level with shaft first :)

And it doesn't have to be a RL, could also be a PG or SG.
