I don't believe it's that open, after watching all the games I think it only comes down to a few teams. Sri Lanka, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand.

I don't think India are going to beat Sri Lanka, and if the West Indies end up winning. they are going to need to edge past with a close victory every time. The other two teams in the Super 8 are going to be Bangledesh (Or maybe India, but India won't get to the final) and Ireland, which I think we can safely remove from the equation. Oh and England - sorry.)

I haven't watched a full game with Sri Lanka or Australia yet, so I don't know their full capabilities, but SA is looking quite strong (both their games would have been over 400 runs if they were allowed to play the full 50 overs) My guess is SA and Sri Lanka in the final, but I am too pessimistic to deny Australia will probably win :(

Sri Lanka can be quite up/down team though, whereas India bounced back with a quite amazing score (even if it was vs a "lesser" team).

India have the talent to win, just like SA/Aus do. Those will be the top3 in my opinion.

India put up a high score against the officially worst team of the tournament, it's doesn't really mean anything. We will see today what happens, but all my money is on Sri Lanka, which means India is out.

Cricket rocks because you can do something else while you watch it, and the tension towards the end of a close game is far greater than any other sport. (Talking about 1 days, 5 days generally don't have close ends.)

I suppose they don't want to sacrifice tv time because it is on for the whole day, here they try to save money, so paying for the world cup on national tv is cheaper than normal programs. (And most of the population can't afford satellite.

Channel 4 over here used to do it (All the English tests/some one day stuff). In fact the coverage was pretty fucking awesome. Sky out bid them last year basically (Because they have all the money in the world!), nobody can compete with Sky basically so if Sky wants something, sky gets it.

Ah :( Sky probably did it because they were hoping for a resurgence of cricket spectatorship in England (but then they started playing crap again, lol @ sky)

hah yeah, the sad thing is I think a lot of the resurgence was due to it being on Channel 4 a channel everyone can access (With good coverage etc).

Personally I'd like to see as many national sporting events on like a "BBC SPORT" channel or something. We pay money to the BBC and they make programs about celebs doing dancing ffs.

:o We pay a single provider and we get 8 dedicated sport channels. Other than what we have 1-3 more channels showing our national sports, cricket, football and rugby with other sports as well. All that + about 4 dedicated movie channels, discovery, NGO, history chan, animal planet, mtv etc, about 90 channels for about 20 pounds a month.

That's not that impressive, they have similar in the UK, people are usually just too lazy to pay. Btw, their "normal" tv channels completely rape ours in the shit.

yea in India it would probably be in 4-5 channels... all live. here in Canada i can only watch it if i pay for cable which i would... but i live on campus and im not allowed to do so.

it certainly exists, how much it matters varies from person to person, sport to sport I suppose.

more so, with solo sports apposed to team sports but still most professionals always come across as cocky, or very sure of their abilities.

You see it all the time in football. And you get fans of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool always whining about the other managers for being cocky and not being able to take a loss. It's kinda rolf really.

The lack of killing spirit is the downfall. People are backed up through hype into them thinking they are better than what they really are. It's not a loss to the players financially wise (ofcourse they would have got loads more for advancing) but with their current sponsorship deals and the money they make off cricket.. it's all about lack of honing their talent.
