How to play back Q3 demosI had a few pms asking bout stairjumping after my comment in the Vo0 vs zoom thread, so I made a 5 min demo of myself doing several trick jumps, mainly stair jumps around cpm22. For entertainment purposes and for learning purposes if you want to read on below...
First off, a stair jump is a move in CPMA where you jump "into" the stairs, if you do it correctly instead of jumping up over the stairs you will "sink" into them. After you sink into them you have a short amount of time to follow up on the jump with another jump which will give you a boost, resulting in much longer jumping distance than a regular jump would ever give you.
Second off, the factors that make a big difference in how effective you stairjump are pretty miniscule. So I can tell you what I do, but it takes awhile to develop the smaller mouse movememnts and especially the feel/timing.
The easy way: cpm22 RA room, wall riding on the left side, stairjumping to the RA stand by flicking to the right
-look forward, hold forward+left strafe key against the left wall
-I jump when around the last 5-7 steps (when you're wallriding you're going to almost always sink into the stairs, so it's the best way to learn how to do a good stairjump)
-Right before I jump I let go of the left strafe key, while still holding forward, and hold down the right strafe key; during this 'transfer' I am starting to flick 180 degrees to aim at the RA stand
-I tend to do my 2nd jump not when I'm aiming directly at the RA, but a bit to the left of it and just make up for lost ground with aircontrol.
-One thing to note, I find it most effective when you're transfering over from the left strafe key to the right strafe key, you look almost completely down, and when you're ready to jump again you flick up (you'll notice I do this in almost all my stairjumps)
This technique is best for beginners who do not have the feel for sinking into stairs just yet, but it is a bit more difficult because everything you do has to be done pretty quickly to be effective.

The smarter way
This next technique is the one I always use when I'm stairjumping. It's the most forgiving with your 2nd jump, but you also have to be very adept in your ability to decipher when you will sink into the stairs...
-move forward
-tap your left strafe key+flick left about 30 degrees;jump
-very quicky and fluidy flick to your right while transfering to the right strafe key
-do your 2nd jump either when you're a little off to the side of the RA. When you get better it'll be easier to pull it off directly facing the RA.
{^ = forward; < = left; > = right; J = jump}
-Basically ^< J >^>^>^ J
When you get used to this move, it'll look like you're drawing an oval, an oval with a short left side, a jump in the middle, and a long right side, or probably like a figure 8 if you look down like me.

Some other things
-When you're falling high enough to inflict fall damage and you land on stairs, you will automatically sink into the stairs and will be able to follow up with a quick 2nd jump
-You can only carry so much speed going into a stairjump, specifically I think it's around 600, above 600 I think you will just go over.

That's it, hope someone learned something.
i'll def give it a try.
