New Mappool: After some complaints, we decided to take wdm3 back into the mappool.

wdm1, wdm2, wdm3, wdm5, wdm6, wdm11, wdm14, wtest15

That's not an all-new-maps-duel-cup :P. Guess how many people will pick 1/2/3/5/6. I'd like an all-new-maps cup =).

11/14/15/16/17 would be a nice mappool.

in all honesty though, alot of people don't like some of those maps. it's fair enough having some maps that some play and others don't, but what's the point of having a map in the pool that next to no one likes or plays? :(
i understand that people have to start playing new maps though, but when the time comes around for 'propaaaah' competition, there shouldn't be a new map in there just 'cos it's a new map :)

and maps shouldn't be accepted (and others shunned) because they've been around the longest and spent the most time without having any (better) alternatives! ;)

but jeah - whenever I refresh the server browser and look for servers that are currently playing these maps it's very rare that I find any at all. You can only speculate as to why that is.

Either way you look at it, views like ETR's (and mine) are the minority. Perhaps it'll change over time (there are actually servers running wdm3 nowwwwwwwwwwzomg) when people get bored/drunk running around the same maps and decide to try something else. S'not saying that everyone is ignorant - rather that they prefer what the know and what is easy/hassle free to play on.

Anyway - the maplist should be up to the organisers and the organisers alone. If anyone really wants to see (other) new maps being played the best way to promote them is to start playing them! And uplerding demohs!

I think a forced new maps mappool duel cup will be able to ground these reasons not to like maps, and will show what maps are good and what maps aren't. I don't think they get played enough, and that people are judging too fast. It's too easy to dislike the maps, and especially for competitions, to pick the ones you've spent months on playing.

Just throw a newmapboocha, so we can see how well these maps perform for competition, nothing to lose, everyone will start on the same grounds. Force new maps, equal playing grounds, will seperate the crap from the good =).

I've played almost only wtest17 duels since that map got on the testing version. Yet I don't see that map played ever... It's a good duel map!

dnt talk abt new maps to bruns..... he still doesnt want to play dm6, because he doesnt 'know' it....

Warsow reached a stage now where you need a lot of train to know all the new maps and develop tactics. We got 4-5 duel maps so far and now we have 7-8.

Besides, with every new 0.x release the weapons get changed in terms of strength, placement, handling plus there is the new armor system which led to new routes, tactics and playstyles on the old maps. I see it more as learning the old ones again plus completely new maps like wtest15 and wdm14.

Old maps still leave place for variations and that's why I don't vote for "new maps only" cup. As long as the players don't insist on new maps only I don't see a point in forcing them to play only new maps.

Force new maps to show people how well they are suited for competition, and to force people to actually play them. Imo it should have been done right after release, for the most even playing field, because now there will be a fundamental difference in how much people have played the new maps.

Still I vote for it, because we simply have to give the new maps a shot; apart from all the fun duels I'm playing on the new maps I don't see much of them being played (and one reason is "because they're not played in cups", right, each game you play has to be a training or practise match for some competition? :P). There are actually enough new maps to run a cup off of them.

I just don't think the maps have been given an honest shot, yet, and it's like a couple of weeks after release. Don't be so damn conservative with the mappools 'boocha, there's nothing to lose =p.

no way does that map have any resemblance to monsoon.. i personally don't like it but it's decent.. i really like wtest15 though.

The theme seems moonsoon-ish but that's my opinion :p
