this site used to buffer vids really fast for me but since a few months ago it goes really slow.. almost faster to just download the whole video. :<

Though a dodgy quality, the own3d.at stream is good for what it is - does as you say stage6 should (but doesn't due to the crappy load time)

i would have agreed with you. was thinking the same thing a while ago but lately nothing seems to load for me.

well, own3d.at has not the best stream quality, but in contrast to stage6, we offer the original file for download and we are always on 100 percent to offer the best gamingmovies.

Two excuses to justify the "shitty stream quality":

1st) atm, we don't have enough traffic volume,
2nd) and we don't have enough server resources (hdd etc.) ...

... to offer a HQ Stream for thousands of unique visitors a day.

sorry, we are not a company, who has too much money for a service like stage6, but i think in the near future we will be able to increase the bitrate of the flashstream up to 1500 - 2000 (atm 800 - 1000).

stage6 lets you download the avi and my connection always maxes out. gl though

Our main goal at own3D.at is just the download - base. We began with broadcasting movies a while ago and it went pretty well. What we do have to honestly say is, that the quality is not the best, but our streaming option is just thought as an additional feature to see a preview of what you will download.

What you have to notice is, that own3D.at is built only by masta- and me, and till now, nothing has been changed. We are only two guys who created a mostly "up to date" download - website for people who are interested in eSport movies. Additional we also offer some of the most important eSport news for Austrian / German Guys.

+ We do not get sponsored.
+ We are only _two_ hard working guys with a full time job
+ We have to pay to offer you that movies.

But it makes fun since our uservisits increased by more than 1000 % during 6 months. :)

im not bashing your site, but i just prefer to stream at max quality + download at max speed..

Don't stop offfering lower quality streaming please, your site is the absolute saviour when people release 10000 GB movies nowadays and it'd take ages to download them. The purpose of stream is to be able to watch it in real time, even on lower bandwidth connections and that's where you excel.

I used your stream all the time to preview it.

the main problem with stage6 is that it's a DivX propriety, and so you can only upload divx, which isn't the best codec out there
not sure I want a 200MB extra for the same encoding quality than in h264 or else

this will certainly not work with other codecs (h264, mkv, mpeg, etc..)

i'm not a 100% sure about this but i think you can 'trick' applications into thinking that an xvid file is a divx file by changing the FourCC. maybe you could also upload xvid files to stage6 that way.

oh and mkv isn't a codec ;)

3) Convert your videos to DivX using the free Dr. DivX 2.0 or the DivX Converter.

You can decode xvids just with the divx codec (at least the older ones) so I guess that does the trick.

Yeah, ok, wtf? So the streams are .divx files and guess what my gspot says? 7296 kbps :-------------D 123.5 MB total. Have fun streaming that, oh wait, the original file is 123 MB too.. hmm..

Uhh if your line can handle streaming 7300 kbps then go for it. Besides, if you use VLC you can open a file that is being downloaded and play it.

i dunno. all i know is i can stream videos and watch them instantly with no buffering. if i like them i can then download and have them on pc

The movie in question is 123 MB and it tries to stream it over a bit over 2 minute period so ::think

its kinda random. sometimes it doesnt buffer at ALL, and other times it does. 90% of the time it doesnt, i promise

it seems too random at the moment. some videos load really quickly for me on my 256kbit line here while some videos like the q4 matches linked on this site took an extremely long time to buffer even when i was using my college line in Canada which of course... is much faster than what i have atm.

The fact that it requires a fast connection doesn't make the site any worse though.

Makes it worse and pointless since the purpose of streaming is that you're able to watch it in real time.Now you'll simply stream original files and it requires tremendous amount of bandwidth.

That is if you are on a slow connection. For me it doesn't make any difference since I usually CAN stream it in real time, just like you can stream lower quality videos. Just because you can't profit from something doesn't mean that others can't either.
