"Heros" 30 minutes in a VERY GOOD Quallity takes 350MB and every Video of that is half the length and takes the double or tripplke size. I don't get it either.

who needs HD at this content? HD for TV movies and series are fine, but at a capture of john or quake is playing and recording with a handcam? give me 640x480 .. in a good encoding. :)

Videos of FPS games are very hard for an encoder to handle. There is always high frequency motion, often across a high percentage of the frame.

Movies and TV are much easier to encode, so require less bitrate for a clear picture (hence a lower file size).

Of course, using WMV doesn't help the situation, XviD or x264 will handle the content much better.

It got that way mostly because a lot of the ppl there haven't followed the scene at all, so after fojji thoroughly dominated the first games quake 1 and 2, they thought they were rooting for the underdog.

I was rooting for fojji personally, and I was sitting next to griffin and PMS Iris, and I think they were annoyed that I was being too loud, but I was cheering when fojji got a frag while other ppl booed.

But there was free beer too, so that may have influenced my volume some.

European stadiums are quieter than endi's bedroom.

They do, but cheerleaders doesnt make it on TV, i dont know why, both AGF, BIF, FCK and other teams have cheerleaders at all their games, and competitions too.. The amount of chubbies are greater than that of U.S top cheerleaders, but i like that so np :D

lol how can you possibly compare this to football. Visit a football game anywere in england, and then you'll know what cheering is. When my team in Antwerp scores, people don't go 'wooow, yeah! *clap* *clap*, but you just go totally nuts. That's because goals are not as common compared to popular US sports like baseball/basketball/... I'm guessing that's a part of the explanation =).

If there's a nice frag, I'd cheer, but c'mon, cheering every 2 secs is just plain stupid. It's like they don't have a clue what's going on and just cheer for everything arbitrarily.

In most football stadium they not only cheer for goals but also for good dribblings, tackles and free kicks that didn't lead to a goal. Or is Antwerp different?

sadly, no :(.. Things at QuakeCon always get a bit crazy and time goes by so quick I never seem to get anything I want done.... I THOUGHT I was going to have the chance to interview Carmack, but id's press agency tricked me and other web-site reporters by scheduling us with people we didn't prepare for lol.. By tomorrow I should have all the video I shot up.. Right now that includes more finals video, Carmack Q&A and ETQW tactics session.

yes that base pack is one of the good packs to come out, although I think the floor and ceiling textures look kinda cruddy in the modern one. I also use the new trails but that's for gameplay reasons, I'm not too fond of the new player models, they just look weird to me.

I don't think polycount/resolution makes that big a difference. I don't mind it when it's decently well done like that set, but most aren't.

Also that colored lighting looks pretty damn wonky :D

The whole crowd thing is always popular... for some reason. Seems a bit psychotic to me... all the screaming and yelling over a game and some strangers. But it does have an appeal... for some people. Even so, in video games, crowds can never be what they are in physical sports. If these businesses keep going the 'crowd way', we'll end up with the equivalent of giant walk-in movie theaters with two un-moving dots. And if you use binoculars, you'll be able to see the players sitting in office building cubicles. Although the cubicles might be covered in shiny lights for all those human eyes. The dog doesn't care about good looks and graphics, nor does the bat... only the silly human who should know better.

Besides, out of the millions of people who watch physical sports, only upwards of 80,000 are at a given game. And on the internet, the millions can translate into billions.

Q2 ZTN match was awesome, i have not watched such an entertaining match in Q2 long enough.

The Edge was HORRIBLE however, that sweden played so horrible he must have thought that he is playing Q4 when it actualy was Q2..
