god quake4 ctf looks horrible, even the crouch sliding doesn't make up for it. despite it being the pov of a great player, couldn't get past the 5 minute mark, its just so slow.

Try watching after 5 min... It really picks up when they get control. And don't troll, either. It just makes you look annoying.

If you're comparing to qw ctf, then yes, I guess it's slow.
If you're comparing to q3 ctf, it's fast as hell.

not if you re comparing to a good cpm ctf demo :P

Well cpm ctf (and qw ctf for that matter) is a totaly diffrent game, not compareable as it plays so diffrently.

thats what we in sweden call "lekstuga". great display of ctf. fojjis movement is smooth as silk.

I'm not relating it to wsw either i dislike that game with a passion, however when I recall the years of playing q3ctf and cpmactf, q4 is incredibly slow in my eyes.

i really hated Q3 CTF.. and i always thought Q4 CTF sucks as well.
but this demo was really fun to watch.

q4 ctf is really fun, i wish there were more players playing it in NA

There are a ton of sub-par leagues going on recently... My team is in a few of them. I guess you just need to know where to look? I think there are currently 2-3 leagues for NA CTF.

The top caliber players are pretty much all gone from the scene. The players from the different top teams never really got along so even playing pubs/pus was pretty much impossible without people caring too much about their pride (people would spec 3+ games instead of playing for fear of losing to players from an opposing clan). So no games were played and the scene died. Basically the players themselves were to blame.

but there is a smaller 3v3 tourney going on atm, or about to start. www.quake4life.net I believe or #KL on ETG.

yeah i tried getting a team together and signing up yesterday but i was too late, it already started.. I'll try to get in next season though

I think fojji made one of the fastest flagruns ever captured on Ruiner in this demo. I didnt time one of the mid-game caps, but those were one of the fastest non rj-caps I have seen. Even NaAani would have a hard time doing that. :P

All runs I saw was worse than what he should do.
Not to mention that the one run people where raving the most about was the slowest one.

fox is playing nice in it ofc, but it would be a great demo if this would have been a close game...

great demos don't always have to be close games.. some ppl enjoy watching one-sided games also

Can't think of any other game/sport where uneven blowouts are quite as popular as in fps (both in quake, cs, ut, etc).

But for some odd reason 10-0 ctf demos and 60-0 1v1 demos (especially cpm rape demos) seem to be popular in fps. I don't get it.

Thats probably because in FPS, the scores don't tell you the whole story.

Just because the scores are 20-0 doesn't mean that the player didn't have to work hard for each and every frag, coming out of each battle with less than 30 HP.

but he said 60-0, its very unlikely that the winning player would have had to fight hard for every frag in that case :P

But a 10-0 CTF demo can still be extreamly close.

10-0 in ctf is also a really one sided game tbh ;)

but whos to say that the team didn't have to fight for every single one of those caps? And that alot of them were made by flag carriers with 1hp left?

that might be true for 5-0 games but 10-0 is like getting caps with every second/third flag touch in the game imo ;)

people say great demo just b/c there are no q4 CTF demos available, one team is raping another team. i stopped watching when fojjis team was winning 9 to nothing.

there should be a coding way to let the video chose the right resolution I guess
(btw the "poped window" is yet in the same too wide resolution for me. firefox 2.0.0.6 in 1280*1024 on win xp if this could help Sujoy)

q4 doesn't look too bad anymore with new movement and things.
is the netcode any better than it was?

would never try it untill i have a better pc anyway, hour long loading screens and jumpy fps is no fun.
