No in-game sounds..
No editing whatsoever, not even simple transitions between frags..
Awful encoding, 400mb for 5minutes? (uncompressed 1536kbit/sec araw sound instead of mp3 is a horribly common newbie mistake and probably cost ~100mb)

Better then these frag movies with 5 minute intro's and 30 seconds of "footage".

...I've watched that QPO vs ic match on baseq3, and I found the gameplay so boring compared to that crazy speedy ut3 gameplay ! We've played few TDM yesterday evening and we had so much fun tbh ! Can't wait until full version is released !

Just because in quake you move faster, it doesn't mean the game's any faster itself. In fact, from what I've seen being an UT player, and playing quake now and then, is that the strafejumping you orgasm all
over, is usually achieved by smooth movement of the mouse, which results in a slow game, eventhough you're moving fast. UT feels much faster because of the mouse movements required to dodge fast are way more hectic and sharp. So basically there, quake is duller than UT. :D

except quake is 50 times more enjoyable! :D

if u were talking about something u actually knew more than zero, would know that dodging decently need a mouse move also but well forget about what i've just said and keep on bullshitting around

By doubletapping a button you're only dodging straight left or right, you are moving your mouse up to a 56 degree angle to actually go anywhere fast. This combined with the small doublejump and the wall dodge in UT3 makes for a rather hectic, and thus speedy, mouse movement and the game itself, in comparison to quake's floating gameplay. See, the thing is I've actually played both Q3 as well UT1, UT2k4 and UT3, and I suggest you do the same, before coming up with statements that are based on your sole 2 hours of playing the game or something like that.

I've played all the games you mentioned. And you know what, UT3 isn't really a fast game. Its extremely slow compared to UT2004 and Q3/Q4.
Yes, the run/walk speed has been increased which is a good thing, but in the same time dodge+jump is missing, leading to even slower movement and fights.

I know it's not supposed to be another Quake game but it is slow. As I said a few months ago when I tried it at GC07, its basically a more dynamic version UT99. Its 100 times better than 99 and has a great potential. But they should introduce dodgejump or some new of continual movement. Not that it's going to happen since this is a UT game. And the series are meant mostly for complete noobs and people who dislike Quake.

Conclusion: Money talking. Not that Epic doesn't know how to make it more suitable for gamers like us.

I play UT, but I was proving a point - and succeeded. Don't get me wrong, UT is a great game, and I'm definitely looking forward to UT3 duelling.

Nobody said anything about how to play the game kid, only how simple and erratic it is to do the dodge function as opposed to the relative flow and skill of proper strafing, even moreso in CPM physics.

The dodge function done without mouse movement is next to useless, though, as it just launches you offset in a wall. Where would be the point in that?

#22 essentially confuses 'slow' with the more suitable word 'flow', and frantic mouse movements meaning the game is fast.

should watch a proper ctf demo from an attacker (maybe someone from FEO or NEU) :)

tdm is a lot about holding positions and not jumping around through the map and getting killed all the time, also dm14 is a rather slow map ;)

yep here we come to the "UT speed > Q3 speed in fights" and "Q3 speed > UT speed in running around" discussion

its probably true that its faster in infights, but that doesnt make it any more skilled (i mean it doesnt make it any more skilled than infights in quake3, just different) ;)

its my first movie and i didnt know what compression i should take, but i think: what matter is it if its 200mb or 400 in the time age of highspeed internet :)

i really dont know what it is about ut 2k x movies that just sucks. i mean the players sure dont lack skill or anything it just looks like any average player would be able to perform the kills shown in the vid.

maybe it's harder for some reason to do spectacular frags in ut but i would NEVER put average frags in a fragmovie.

as an average frag i would define any frag i would expect someone in a fragmovie to hit.
as an exceptional frag i would define something like when i think "damn, how could he possibly make that frag, that prediction or anything else unforeseen?"
