wtf @ ~8:15 (machine guns some guy to death and his gun is still going about a full second later, as he pans over to fire at another player), 10:03 (machine guns another guy to death -- a guy who may have about 10 HP -- and he ONLY fires the number of bullets required to kill him and turns his mouse away INSTANTLY, without even having any indication this guy was low on health (it was right off of spawn)), 11:15 (he is looking another way and INSTANTLY turns toward the door opposite the way he is looking, without any likely indication that he should do that at all).

there are several instances where he just shoots through his teammates for a full 1-2 seconds. this is happening in the pro-q3dm6 game as well.

any ideas?

dont blame cpma for link1n doing strange things =)

cpma's 'improved' soundsystem might be the cause of strange happenings where players know things they really shouldn't know. this really really sucks in tdm :<

maybe linkin has some trouble with the new huds aswell... i know i didn't have any deathmessages in console or fragsmessages in the hud to indicate if i killed a guy in the last games.

the improved soundsystem is not used when vq3 is enabled, so that shouldnt be it :)

i heard armor pickups on dm14 and cpm4 from the strangest places. it was so easy to hear we thought about timing them :d but then didn't bother and lost to wcm... sigh

afaik its promodes sound system being used when watching demoes, same as gtv.

edit: oh you mean when playing, dunno then :o

yeah i know about promode soundsystem being used in demos - i didn't know about gtv this might explain some things. iirc this happened before even in osp (but if it did it is a *very* rare thing to happen).

it happens when gtv is on a server spectating/broadcasting. not sure if this is of any value to anyone though :p

Odds are that you were on a ioq3 server. And ioq3 is fucked beyond repair. Would appreciate it if you could provide a demo where a vq3player (as in, the player, not spec) gets prosound - on a proper server.

i kinda doubt it was an ioq3 server as (i believe) it doesnt support pb and hes talking about an official cb match which should be played on pb enabled servers. But ye, demo would be nice :)

no, cb match so no ioq3. i'll try to get a demo but i'm not sure if it's happening while playback.

It's a server decision whether a sound is sent or not otherwise people would just hack their clients to get prosound in vq3. And since demos are the network traffic from the server, you must have been mistaken.

no, i did not imagine it. at first i thought 'nice bug - lucky me' but a few moments later dk said on teamspeak 'i can here the ra/their ra pickup' followed by acknowledgement from someone else. but maybe i was imaging that too?

How you come see my request for a demo as a personal vendetta against you? Right now *all* we have to debug from (if it is a bug) is your word that you think you heard something that you shouldn't have. Fat use that is? :)

Look... It's very simple.

Demos are network traffic from the server.
Your client can never hear sounds not sent by the server.
You didn't hear any errors in your demo.

no, i wasn't but thanks for telling me. read what i wrote: people on my team said on voicecom they heard armor pickup they didn't expect to hear.

i have no idea about the technical side of things... but afaik the gtv observer (but certainly the specs) do have prosound? why is that and if it's like that why is it impossible i experienced a bug?

i'm not 100% on the ioq3 stuff btw because i know two guys on the opposing team so i didn't bother checking if pb was active. noctis was the admin in charge iirc :S

It's fine that you want to help, but your description alone gives NO debugging possibilities whatsoever. It's the equivalent of going to a car mechanic without your car or telling him what car it is.

The server might be ioq3. As you said yourself, you're not sure.

You might have discovered a bug.

A demo would easily rule out some of the possibilities.

Since you for some odd reason don't want to make a demo from a clanbase game public, you can dcc it to me at irc, mail it to mthom03@student.sdu.dk or pm me if you want to send the demo in a different way.
