Taking into account the nature of the elite quake community, that rule shouldnt be used.

They should simply give three or four slots to Sweden, Russia and the USA, and leave countries with less Quake tradition with just one slot.

that would be stupid. its a world cup which means each country gets to send its very best representative.

you don't see brazil getting to send two football teams just because they're so good.

the best answer would be to follow the format from 2004(?) where it was a country vs country thing and not simply 1v1.

They already sent more guys from strong countries in other games (three from France in Trackmania, two or three from Spain and Germany in PES, etc).

3 from france for tmn was cause the last year winner was french, and that guy auto qualified. Germany had 2 slots for pes. Dunno about spain, but i doubt they sent 3.

I'm sure they sent three Spaniards for the PES tournament in 2005 or 2006, without autoqualifying or anything.

Anyways, my point was that ESWC is not a tournament with just one slot per country and that there are differences among different countries in each game, so who cares if they give one or two slots more to those countries where the competition is going to be stronger.

No, they should stick to 2 slots and give wildcards or invites. Everyone knows who, if they were willing to come, they would want at the event.

may or may not attend, depends on where the qualis are and how good i get between now and then. right now i am losing to rapha, kgb, and pyro on a pretty regular basis. if I continue to lose to these guys I won't bother attending, because I doubt I will be able to compete vs the euros

I just don't practice anymore, there are players that like playing the same people over and over but to me it is too boring. Makes me get used to playing to 1 or 2 styles which I could practically program a bot and face it to get as much practice. I still can beat anyone on any given day, but I don't have the motivation to train in a dead scene (hopefully Quake Zero will change this) vs 2-3 players who are at my level, over and over again... just to go to an event where I will face playstyles that are foreign to anything I had been training against and get slammed out of the tourney. I think players like rapha who has bootcamped and lanned with euros alot before has a much better chance at reppin america than I do. besides that...I guess i've been playin CTF and defrag a little too much also :D

Why not try what czm did? He said he used to play on european servers with horrible ping and had to rely on his positioning instead of his aim. You'd be able to practice different styles and you'd be able to take advantage of your aim when you take it to lan.

everytime i play euro, they either disregard me because of ping and play someone else, or whine cheats when i start winning ;(
