Bullshit.

This game doesn't proves a shit and you know it.
Purri is overrated and Cedion played way under his capacity.
And i don't think Cedion had practiced ztn2dm3 at all.
You know as well as i do that a game beween top players like this can go any way from day to day.

But i think the Quake 2 duel scene is very uninteresting.
The Quake 2 scene is very small.
There isn't many players around today and very few that practice a lot and and takes it seriously.
And because of that there doesn't exists so many top players.


The Quake 3 duel scene is way more interesting.
There are a lot more players and clans and in a big duel tournament today there are a lot of people that can win.
And if Purri gave up Quake 2 and practiced Quake 3 for a long time i don't think he would come very far in a Quake 3 duel tournament.
And i also think that a tournament if possible should be played at LANS and be over in 1 or 2 days.
Games over the internet doesn't make justice to if the player has the nerves and can handle the pressure that will be there in a big tournament.

Big tournaments that still exists in Quake 3 for example really proves who is a pro player.
You have only a few minutes of preparation in a chair that will not be your favorite chair and in an environment that is totally new for you.
Fatality,Lakerman..etc.. are(or was) pro players.
The Quake 2 players like Purri and others are not really in the same league when it comes to competition.
And i seriously think that Fatality would have a good chance beating Purri in Quake 2.

Fatality have actually played a lot of Quake 2 once and he would stand a much better chance of beating Purri then Shub.
Shubs demos against Purri is something i don't even consider a game.
Shub hasn't played Quake 2 for years and didn't even practice before the game against Purri.
And the result in those demos says it all.
I even think Purri gave away some frags in the second game just to be nice.
He took the elevator in a stupid way and did some other things he would never have done if he took it more seriously and the game was important.

But Shub has something Purri will never have.
Legendary status.
Shub will be there in the history books in the gaming scene.

There was no doubt that Shub was number 1 when he was around.
No European player did have a chance against him(No not even Blue).And Makaveli did beat him but as a player Shub was much better.
He could control a map like no other.

I have never been impressed by anything i have seen so far in those duel scenes and think i can beat them all.
I never practice but i still think i can beat those who practice 12 hours a day.
Last night i even beat some Quake 3 bots on Hurty Me Plenty.

Purri sucks. Pretty obvious. Watch the Shub demo from shubs pov. If Shub's RG was bit better Purri would of been owned so bad :|
This guy has no tactics or whatsoever. He only relies on his RG aim. Tho his RG is f***king poor on ping 50 (25% RG accuracy on dm8 with all of his teammates having Ps included himself + spawnfrags)

Purri used RG,SSG,CG,RL and grenades...

Yes, once he started to use the RL he got ass-spanked by Shub. If he pings 50 his RG accuracy drops to 20% (opponent isn't really that important cause he misses everything). Hes just shite :)o

Purri would have beaten Shub if he only used SSG.
And if you knew anything about Quake 2 top players you know that RL is a very slow weapon that they don't frag to much with.
Good players usually have no problem avoiding a Rocket.
The only time they get hit by a rocket is if it comes as a suprise.
When they walk into a room for example.
And about railgun accuracy.

How many percent do you think a Quake 2 top player usually hit in a duel normally?
Answer that question.
If you can't...then you should keep your mouth shut.

Yes Shub has a legendary status and that's why i regret he d have played this match.
It's hard to admit that such a player would be beaten so easily. He couldn't do anything in these duels.. even though on dm3 he did some nice frags, maybe the rests of his old reflexs =)
He apparently didn't take this event seriously, so i think the results won't change the vision people have of Shub, at least for old school players like me =)

We mustn't compare different ages. every age has its heros, divided by different ways of playing, various improvements (proxys nowadays etc etc.....). Only watch the reaction of Shub when appeared some q2ace commands before the first duel..
So we'll never know, even by trying to make pronostics, if the new leet q2 players match the old ones, and for my part i don't want to know.

Purri isn't bad, but Zyz ed with him up manytimes. Watch zyz vs. purri demos, that's about precission and skill. Imho Purri seems to be much more psychic labile than other top q2players. He believes in his individual skills in 1o1combat and that's his weakness. Zyz ownz.

Its not fair to compare, Shub played on a "Small" PC back then, and nowdays people play on "monster machines".

And Blue also defeated makaveli on dm1, rapish scores (but Mak got he`s payback on dm3).

He owned people like no one else.
That is something that everyone must agree with.
And with top players like that things might be different from day to day.
Some other day Shub would have beaten Makaveli in 3 games in a row.
