cg_altlightning 0 *is* the original q3 lg

I think we all agree on the fact that it was stupid to remove the 2 other altlightnings?

They're not big in size, don't bother anyone and some people liked them, I'm just wondering why arQon decided to remove them.

Yes it's prob the OSP one. When the pic get's approved you`ll see it's not supposed to look like that.

its actually the TeamArena one which made it into baseq3 with a patch.

you cant use it in 1.44 cause they removed it, but they are looking into getting the old one back or adding a new one that is a middle thing between 0 and 1. (thats what ix told me)

hopefully we'll get the other lg options back with next cpma release, right now we're stuck with 2 extreme options which fucks over many players including myself. there's nothing you can do about it except maybe post on the promode forums in existing threads to support our whine :>

I have devised a plan to get them back, it mostly involves misinterpreting things arQon says and wishing him dead for removing textures from a game that he creates in his spare time. I think I'm on to something here.

For extra points we could perhaps get a player who has played in a tournament before to comment in our favour so that way he has to add them because getting an e-lebrity on your side instantly invalidates any other argument.

I'm really glad we got CPMA and a dev team behind it that still improves things even this late in a game's time, but honestly that move was more than just weird.

It is good we have that new lg as actually many users like it, but at the same time others got fucked over when the other options were removed. :(

arqon is SICK... he strange man as we all see... he all night and day searching for non existing bugs and fixing it, in 1.45 he will fix something and we wont strafe any more, just walk.. he will tell us, that strafe is bug..
I got using altlightning 0 and offset gun and gun model 0, so shaft looks me exactly the same like in osp/baseq :) but for other ppl i see its a big problem... no problem all vq3 servers gonna use 1.43 back! :P

i played always with ASE, so never feeled diferent from 1.43 ~ LG

If I'm understanding this correct then ArQon alone is responsible
for writing all the new code for a game being played by the whole
world. He decides What LG goes and doesn't....

Anyway, you can change the shaft by using:
+zoom
cg_zoomfov "your fov" (eg 110)
cg_fov (1 makes shaft very big - 360 makes shaft very thin)

If you wanna use zoom with the other weapons, bind it on your shaft bind and add your classic cg_fov, cg_zoomfov and -zoom in others weapon binds.

Nota: it worked 2 years ago in osp and I'm not totally sure it works on the latest cpma version.

As long as you set cg_xerpclients to 1, it doesnt even matter what your LG looks like cause everyone using it hits AT LEAST 50%!!!11

of course it matters. there's more lightning in the thick shaft than in the thin one so more damage.

you may not realise it yet but with arqon forcing you to use thin lg he made you better aimers because your less likely to aim with the big shaft beam and more likely to aim with your crosshair

one day you may realise the above and even become as good as me (can always dream [ and yes that is sarcasm ])

but if you want some advice from the one and only... then practice practice practice and stop wasting your time on esreality forums crying about it when its already obvious... as everyone pointed out... that he doesnt care what you think... and rightly so... else cpma wouldnt be as nice as it is today (WARSOW ANYONE?!)

You cant compare a mod to a standalone game. About the whine part youre partly right, cause in this case i honestly think he got a bit nazi.
