Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PC, PS3, X360) developer Infinity Ward was shocked to discover an unexpectedly high level of piracy in regards to the PC versions.
The developer is quite happy with the recent number of PC owners playing the game online, the studio's community relations manager "fourzerotwo" expressed amazement at how many of those players were running a pirated copy of the game.
Besides the discussion of piracy und pc gaming,
I know there are a few "cracked servers" without cdkey authifications out there, but its new to me that with a fake or generated cdkey it is possible to play on online game servers.
I think Infinity Ward was a little bit sleepy in that matter, cdkey authification through masterserver is just standard nowadays.
What do you think of the pc piracy topic, will piracy attack pc gaming? Will developers only do console games in the future because they fear piracy?
