in flames is good live band but i dont like its new albums =D

one gig last year was quite funnay in finland when anders had to go shit in the middle of gig, so he decided to pick some random guy from audience to sing "cloud connected". that guy totally sucked at singing and in the end of the song he did stage dive.... landed on the steel fence and fell down in pain. was priceless.

i don't sense a lot of purpose in it.

this is an AWESOME album. awesome. great songs, a huge step forward. thank god. i wrote them off couple of years ago. come clarity gave some hope, but for me, this is their ressurection.

No, I'm one of the idiots that liked in flames because unlike other bands at the time they went with their own style rather than following the crowd, but it seems time has caught up on them and they've finally followed the money.

I myself didn't hate nor love STYE, they were at least trying to keep their style but soften it up back then. Now it's almost alternative rock

if anything was a total run for money, it was STYE. its hilarious to hear that nu-chugga-chugga-crap was ok, but now when they actually try to sound like inflames, put some melodies in the songs, make it more complex, and you can actually hear that jesper is there (i dont remember him playing anything worth remembering on STYE, now its a run for money?

STYE was not even close to reroute to remain, totally different than anything before.

no they dont, and they never will. there will be no jester race 2. but this is good work, simple as that. better than anything after clayman. and i personally liked reroute to remain, even though not as much as their previous work ofc.

I can't believe that some people are now accusing the band for selling out, when in fact the accusition would have been much appropiate at time when they came with albums like Reroute and Soundtrack, or even Come Clarity (better other two btw).

This is their best effort since Clayman. The style is new and refreshing, they have deviated significantly from Soundtrack era music. I kinda doubt that one with Soundtrack as favourtie In Flames album will like the new album, but I'm pretty sure majority of In Flames fans who where disappointed with their last 3 albums (especially Soundtrack and Reroute) will love this or atleast not hate it as previous 3.

Most of the tracks are very catchy and melodic, the melody that you use to get in older stuff, and some tracks grows on you with every other listen. Its different and new from both old (Jester Race to Clayman) and new (Reroute to Come Clarity), but it does have essence from both era and you can feel the In Flames while listening it. So far Disconnected, Sleepless Again, Drench in Fear, I'm the Highway are my favourites. Couldn't just stop listening them.

Lol, people are getting so touchy with In Flames' albums. It's their band they can do whatever they want with it. I think it's good that bands "sell out", it's their job. Would you give up the chance to make money just to please some fanboy on ESR?

Btw: I loved "Eraser" on the EP. Listening to the rest now...

It's my fingers, I can type whatever i want! no.. both wrongly accusing people of selling out and actually selling out is bad in my eyes. If you're an artist and your goal is money, something is probably wrong.

First clause of the second sentence says that you can mislabel someone as selling out in a sense that makes you an idiot; e.g. by thinking that they sold out, whereas in fact, incendentally, their new taste in music happened to resonate with the common denominator and not you. Or, another theme, you might think that they are selling out when in fact they are making music just to make money which later will be used for whatever purpose one thinks would make up for it in a positive sense (like making music that is not beneath them later) - maybe this is not possible unless they are honest about it, like the trance album "1200mixes for cash"). The second clause says that, although you can't really know for sure whether someone is a hypocrite or liar or whatever, if they are devoid of any excuses you find acceptable, selling out should be seen as bad.

That is, at least try to see the situation from the artists point of view, and try to take account of your own biases before judging whether someone is a sellout or not, and if they don't meet any standard you approve of, looking down on them and finding them to be despicable shitheads that ruin life on earth, feel free to do so. Countering this with "it's their right to be despicable.. etc." makes no difference to my judgment.

I think that's the most reasonable interpretation of selling out. of course, another definition could be on the basis of contract or promise or principle established in unison with other people, like i suspect the original sellout was. but that is not very easy to make sense of in terms of artists and music.. perhaps the fans get a little cocky there sometimes, in thinking they are in a principled brotherhood with the artist ;D

i personally like the new album a lot. better than their last 2, a bit better than reroute. stuff they did before is uncomparable so lets say that were different inflames =)
